The way it was described by the witch, it sounds like life drain magic sucks their life out then attacks them with it instead of healing you.

Thursday is my favorite day. First two new chapters of Black Haze came out today and a new The Gamer. Jee Han better call her now. I keep wondering if the druid is going to be jealous, but I guess not.

People gettin' OUTSPERGED right here.

I think the only thing that differs by not being in his party, is that they don't get to apply the stats in a way they choose after leveling. Or get xp from other people killing monsters. And the whole 'get items from nothing' thing. Though I'm not sure if people can get stuff from the 'converted' illusionary barrier.

He's just quantifying other people's power. When people train to get stronger, they just get stronger. They don't level up or anything. However when he looks at them he can quantify it, under his system, and say they gained 2 levels and 20 points of strength. Also, while it's not completely clear how "leveling up" works when he isn't present, I doubt it works the same way. It's possible, and most probable from what we know, that fighting weak enemies that don't give you any challenge don't actually make you stronger unless Jee-Han is there. Like how stepping on ants won't make you any stronger, but then if Jee-Han comes along and invites you to his party it changes. You'll start getting 1 exp per kill so you'll eventually level up and get stronger.

Like that. You know, how in an RPG if someone leaves your party and rejoins later they'll be leveled up to compensate for not being around while you were leveling. If he wanted to train someone he should just have them join his party, leave them for a few weeks and come back and BAM, instantly leveled up while they were away. But like Paragon said they'll have leveled suboptimally so they'll be a little poo poo.

Except that's both wrong, from what we know, and has nothing to do with what I said. From what we know the concept of levels, and leveling up, doesn't exist for anyone except Jee-Han. Jee-Han is just quantifying other people's attributes to fit his system, which is the main draw of this series in the first place - how his weird gamer outlook fits in with everything else. The other people are leveling up because they're training to get stronger, and it's just being reduced to a number for Jee-Han. Look at it this way, to Jee-Han other people level up because they've gotten stronger, while Jee-Han gets stronger because he's leveled up. The point I was trying to make was that with Jee-Han it's possible that grinding the same easy task will make you stronger when it wouldn't if you did it without him. That's why I brought up the ants as an example. I imagine any of these abyss fighters could step on ants all day without any benefit at all, but if they were in a party with Jee-Han they might get 1 exp per ant, eventually level up, and increase their charisma.

Good, it seems the Gamer is already aware of the super high level people existing on this server. "Well my bros seem strong, but they were ignored by these other chumps who took on some other strong people, and those chumps won't bother that one guy. Guess that one guy's level 1000 with full PvP and PvE gear." Also, why did he dismiss it if it's permanent? Start working on your golem army now, dingus. Hide them in an underground evil lair that Gnome builds.

I think this is the first time the author actually names the witch. He named the druid in one of the previous two chapters. Loli and Horu? I wonder if the Loli is on purpose (lolicon) or just a name. Someone on Mangajoy thinks that the Existence Eater/Temporary Magician might be Han Ji-Han's dad. Interesting thought, but I think the statement is that the Temporary Magician can't find a job. Isn't Ji-Han's dad fully employed and well? The new pet isn't as cute as the old one. If I had golems, I'd create a couple and free them and see what happens. Cool to see them really talking about "gamer mind" too because otherwise Ji-Han should be a basket case by now.

Neat, I wonder if Gnome can use her earth skills to augment the golems in any way, or to provide a larger/more stable frame for Jee Han to put his low-level golem AI into, or anything like that.

Someone's not up on their golem lore, eh? Leaving a golem without direct supervision is just begging it to go on a destructive rampage. Being a notoriously unreliable danger to their own creator is, like, their schtick. You may as well ask Dracula to escort your innocent young nubile beautiful daughter to prom to make sure no one takes advantage of her. All I know about Golem lore is that whether or not Golems can technically be considered Jewish has been very seriously considered by very serious rabbis and is the basis for whether abortion is considered acceptable in Jewish law. Turns out it's okay (maybe?) because in one story a rabbi turns one into dust without consequence, and therefore they don't have souls. Or something like that. I took a very weird and very specific class in Jewish mysticism/bioethics. Anyway, my impression is that traditionally they've been considered more human-like than doll-like, which is why the description of them as "inanimate beings from Jewish lore" in the comic bugged me a little. The original point from the lore in question is that they are animate, just the imperfect creations of imperfect humans playing god. So they're alive, but not as alive as real people. The fact that they were made of clay is more of an afterthought than a fundamental feature (like it's always portrayed in fantasy stories), since the original humans were supposedly made out of clay too.
