So I've been upgrading a ton of stuff lately. Starting with Phased Polaron gear. I know goons love pink guns, so I've put all my upgrade rejects into the dental bank. All Mk VII, either UR or Epic and all have at least [CrtD]x2 or [Acc]x2. Some of them turned out quite nicely, just not as perfectly as my standards demand. Anyway, upgrading rank is pretty cheap so I figured someone might want some decent guns. Help yourselves, don't be dicks about it. Or if its going to waste, tell me to stop, because there will be a ton more where this came from.

So I just watched "I, Borg" and wow, the whole ethical dilemma of this episode becomes totally incoherent and inane in light of the later decision to retcon natural born Borg out of existence.

Mondian posted:

So what are preferred ground gun mods? Are we chasing [CrtD] like in space or are the priorities different?

For me it's been pretty much all crit chance (or CritX for Romulan Plasma weapons), plus the traits Lethality (from Rom reputation) and Strike Team Specialist, and Headshot I/II from the Commando specialization. There's no accuracy on ground weapons (all attacks hit) so going CritD all the way is the easiest way to bump DPS up.

Korgan posted:

[CritD] all the time on ground, accept no substitutes.

That said, I think you could make an entertaining gimmick build by outfitting everyone with knockback shields and knockback weapons.

Oh, and set up a tactical boff or two with the assorted melee skills with knockbacks.

Just remember, the Hacked Master Key only works on Dominion lockboxes. If you want another ship, you have to sell a bugship on the exchange and buy it yourself. Don't want a repeat of the incidents last year.

You mean were we all got the T5U prototypes of other lockbox ships instead then had to claim "glitched" when people forgot to mask their gateway and unwanted questions came about?

"Oh, hey, every ship got a new upgrade texture, even the ones that don't normally get customisation options! I wonder what it's like!"

Normal:

:effort:

I love how much of a mess of graphics the Kar'fi is anyway. The ship texture is super-low res, worse than any other in the game, and has massive visible stretching/compression/interpolation artifacts. The first time you get your ship, it'll have normal, glowing white windows; the first time you change it in the customiser, it'll switch to red, glowing neon streak windows, with no way to change it back. The engine trail can be rendered 10 times per player, but if you're running fighters there are 11 engines onscreen, so one of your fighters will always be missing an engine. The engine trail itself is composed of two effects: fire, and smoke overlapping fx; if you turn, the effect trails actually curve at different rates and separate into two different trails - fire without smoke, and smoke without fire.

That said, don't give a gently caress, lionfish ship best ship.

Not as strong as you'd expect.
I'm sure everybody has their 'One ship' that they love and adore and want to use everywhere. Tier 6 and Tier 5-Upgrade kinda knocks that away, though, since the difference between a normal ship and and Upgrade ship is somewhere on the order of 30,000 HP at 60, not to mention the traits.

Speaking of contraband, I sperged out and did math. Can someone tell me that I'm wrong please.

My assumptions, it takes 5 contraband to get 2000 dil. Dil is exchanged at 159 to 1 Zen. Ten lockbox keys is 1125 Zen. Keys sell for 2.4M EC. Contra sells for 43,000 EC.

So...to get to 1125 Zen you need 159x1125 = 178,875 Dil. Divide that by 2000 to get 90 contraband turn-ins to get that amount. Multiply that by 5 to get 450 Contraband per 10 keys.

10 keys sell for 24,000,000
450 contraband sells for 19,350,000

Looks like contraband is under-priced at the moment. Just buying contra and turning it in would net you 4.6 Mil EC profit. (Course there is a daily limit to that)

Shame it only comes with white engine glows, but that's a small price to pay.

Also if you remove all the colors it basically looks chrome plated. Of course then it wouldn't be hot pink, so no point doing that.

Your math is correct but you do have to factor in your time spent setting up alts to turn it in and doing the actual turnins and that's time you could spend grinding elsewhere or you know going outside. I mostly save contra turnins for dil weekends unless I need the dil/zen for other stuff.

Exp bonus events are when you set up the alts. takes about 15 mins on a kdf alt.

You'd be shocked at how much dil they can generate with contra in a short period of clicking after that. Shocked.

Nothing comes even close. Any other dil, generating activity is a shameful, even criminal, waste of time in comparison.

I've found the nukara bubble shield ability really handy today in bug hunt. Basically the only time I die is when I get swarmed by a dozen bugs and can't move anywhere so being to keep everything 8m away from me helps clear a path. The armor seems about as good as the CounterCommand stuff too.

I hate to admit it, but the Scryer's grown on me quite a bit since Cryptic figured out how to put multiple special powers on a single ship buffed it with sensor analysis and the secondary deflector. It's weak in tac slots but throwing plasma on it and loading it up with embassy consoles makes up for some of that. Similarly the low tac boff seats isn't as bad as it looks since you can throw Surgical Strikes 3 on it and slice through stuff, and if you have the Phantom's trait too you probably won't even need to worry about needing an attack pattern doff in most queues. You also get the full mix of science and intel rear end in a top hat abilities, there's a lt. commander engineering slot to throw EPTW3 or whatever into, and hey there's a free cloaking device too since why the hell not.

I mean there's definitely better and higher DPS ships around, but if you really want to use a T6 science vessel it beats the pants off the Dauntless and Pathfinder. Even the look's grown on me... especially if you throw on the type 7 or Upgrade skins and variant nacelles.
