I think one of the problems with tumblr is that for all the talk about cultural sensitivity they (being mostly American) barely know anything about other cultures outside of Doctor Who and anime, and have no intention to learn or do something productive in pretentious fear of offending someone. I guess as a non religious person (in a Christian family) who celebrates Christmas, I probably take it for granted that holly and ornaments and Christmas lights and all that tacky poo poo are just happy nostalgic things. We did want to include decorations related to the other seasonal celebrations, but they were shot down for being too religious too. I think she wanted us to just go with something classy and sterile. It's hard to get excited about classy and sterile when you go to a school covered in white gallery walls.
