It's not amazing. The upgrades are overpriced and the pilot abilities aren't super great.

I can see it being useful once we get a 3 damage cannon that's not an autoblaster that is 2 or 3 points. The title for the ship just costs way too much.

Yeah, I like how people are talking as if the Outrider will topple Han overnight. The Outrider is much more vulnerable to phantoms due to the range 1 bubble and they will likely have priority. It's quite maneuverable but I can't see it being better than Han. It can use Lando as a quasi C3PO/Han replacement but I think R2/C3PO is still superior in the attrition war. Han also still has a boost that can easily get it inside the bubble.

That said, I can see good pilots doing well with the outrider but it's low PS will be a detriment.

Played a timed game today that came down to the last round before time expired. I had Jansen with VI and two hull left, he had Boba Fett with VI and HLC and one hull left.

We killed each other.

Best draw ever.

Look up x-wing squad builder. It should be a uk site. It'll filter lists based on what you own and tell you where to get upgrades if you need them.

Played the classic 3 tala and fat Han in a tournament last night. Still wins over the new ships. Decimators are a joke but are funny to see when the damage decks are almost empty. YT-2400 might be in contention against Han but so far I've been disappointed with its reliance on Lando and evade dice. Han+R2 still wins in attrition.

I know almost nothing about this game beyond a couple of quickstart battles, but I got lucky in the Amazon sales. Picked up an E-wing, Tie Defender, Tie Phantom for £6 a piece, and the Rebel Transport for £20. The real star however was a Tantive IV for £30. So I guess I'm committed to it now.

Any advice on using those models along with two copies of the starter set to make rebel/imp lists that are newby friendly?

I'm really looking forward to the new Scum and villainy stuff. Partly because I want to run five Golds with autoblaster turrets and titles for what is essentially a cluster missile attack every round at range 1. But also because some of the stuff you can do with the new Fett is ridiculous. It's like he comes with a free predator that works even better.

Link.

Tangent: I've learned that I really love the idea of Deadeye + Recon Specialist. Makes some things (like Homing Missiles against Phantoms/TIEs) actually useful.

You're not getting 6 dice because Expose only increases primary weapon damage not HLC

Swap it for Opportunist, drop Experimental Interface, and then put Wingman on Jan.

Or do this, because you don't need high PS on that thing and being able to tell the munitions failure crit to gently caress off is nice.

A stressed Jan is never going to be able to keep up with Dash in order to use wingman though. Maybe for a while if you give her engine and drop the shield.

That's certainly an option, but honestly I wouldn't use that combo for more than a turn or two. There's very little at all that's going to keep up with a YT-2400 trying to stay away from everyone. A couple shots with six dice is better than no shots with six dice, though, and I'd take it at long range against most things.

Through a few weeks of experimentation, we came up with this list which is very tough to go up against.

Rear Admiral Chiraaneu (46)
-Expose (4)
-Ysanne Isard (4)
-Moff Jerjerod (2)
-Rebel Captive (3)
-Experimental Interface (3)
Obsidian x2 (13 x2)
Academy x1 (12)

The order of ops is pretty basic until the shields go down; Clear Stress, Target Lock, Experimental Interface Expose, repeat.

After the shields are gone, however, you target lock as your action, wait for start of combat, then E.I. Expose from your Evade Action from Ysanne so you don't screw yourself out of an evade with stress. As really bad crits come in, start by executing the Captive (wait as long as you can, it's hilarious as ever against high PS pilots with PTL), then usually if another nasty one rolls in, the Moff commits suicide, since Ysanne is too valuable to kill.

With four to five dice from a turret, a target lock, and that psudo-focus at 1-2, you tend to get a lot of hits every turn. Also, I like the mental picture of the Moff getting upset at some sort of damage the ship just took and shooting the Rebel prisoner out of irrational anger then kills himself a few minutes later.

So as a player of other miniature wargames, this looked to me like the bomb diggity, especially given the (MSRP) price point compared to other wargames.

Of course, I dig into buying some stuff for my gaming friend and I for Christmas, and I find a lot of stuff is going for several times over MSRP. People selling Falcons for $100 when MSRP is $20 for example.

So, is this business as usual, or some temporary shortage that FFG is aware of and addressing?

Absolutely do not pay MSRP or above for anything X-Wing. If your local game shop charges MSRP find a new game shop. Wait for stuff to come back in stock.

In the UK this pretty much means just buying online because no bricks and mortar retailer will ever go below MSRP. I usually buy my stuff online mind you. The number of places that have attached gaming spaces in the UK are really low (the only one that does it here in London is Dark Sphere, I'm not sure if they sell below MSRP in the shop although their website suggests they do).

It's both: it's a temporary shortage that they're aware of and will address eventually, but they consistently gently caress up and under-produce stuff and don't do new print/manufacture runs often enough, so as a result, you usually need to buy new releases within a month or two or face a 3-6 month for them to get their act together and do another run.

I have not seen a hobby shop's physical storefront offer non-sale items below MSRP in probably 15 years.

My store is 10% off all the time, and spend $100 to earn a $10 store credit. It has an extensive online store too that makes them a ton of money. I pay league fees at my store and started a thriving X-Wing community there!

edit: every game store in the area except 2 charges below MSRP. One of the ones that doesn't frequently charges more for products than MSRP. They also require you to spend literally $5000 to get a discount, lol.

Two of the LGS's that I play at in alg's area sell below MSRP and offer great gaming spaces. One even has a liquor license with craft beers on tap! He may just be spoiled with good options. The most local LGS to me is over 2 hours away, so I resort to online most of the time.

Stores with substantial online sales can charge below MSRP in-store because the online sales partially (honestly, probably mostly) subsidize the cost of running the store. Margins on a physical sales-only store are much tighter and they can't really afford to dip below MSRP.

Question about Dash: His ability only applies during activation and while performing actions, this means he can't shoot while parked on an asteroid, right? I also assume that parking on obstacles grants him the extra evade dice?

Also, I'm not clear why the FAQ says that the player must decide whether they're using his ability before boosting or barrel-rolling. What's the advantage of not?

Yes, he can't fire while parked on asteroids. He only gets the extra evade dice if the closest trajectory from him to the attacker goes through the asteroid template. Not sure about the FAQ though.

There were some shenanigans involving deciding not to ignore the obstacle during activation in order to get a better barrel roll because his card uses 'may'

I think the FAQ states that player cannot boost or barrel-roll if it causes the ship to overlap an asteroid. I assume it has something to do with that, but I do not have the FAQ in front of me.
