The 49ers suck and Levi Field is cursed so I can't really figure out how good the Seahawks are from this game. At Philly and at Arizona are gonna be real tough for them since they are just a different team away from Centurylink Field brought to you by XBone.

Seahawks defense has dominated 2 of the worst offenses in the league in back to back weeks. So maybe they're back? Or maybe not? Russel had a really good game tonight, 10.7 YPA and only 2 really bad throws that I recall. That's very encouraging since he's been really off throwing lately. Still, the overall offense sputtered all night, failing at one point to punch in a 1st and goal from the 1. Niners defense is really good so that's part of it, of course. Next week will be interesting to answer the twin questions of: Is Seattle's defense really back, or just playing bad offenses? Is Mark Sanchez actually good now, or just feasting on bad defenses with a great system and talent around him? Man I am enjoying this rivalry so much these days.

In which case: "A player who signals for a fair catch is not required to catch the ball. However, if a player signals for a fair catch, he may not block or initiate contact with any player on the kicking team until the ball touches a player. Penalty: snap 15 yards." I'm pretty sure that's what happened.

I feel like if they are gonna make rules to allow the returner an attempt to make the catch he shouldn't also get to level a gunner trying to do the same, but I don't know what the precise rules are here. "Hit him too hard" is not a good standard I think.

A guy who sat in front of me in Candlestick & screamed for Kaepernick over Alex Smith for 6 months was yelling after the game today at Levi's that the Niners should have stuck with Smith. I don't think he banked on the people being next to him at Candlestick being there. This is the denial stage of grief. 49ers fans are reacting... poorly. Personally I'm relieved that when people tell me the Niners suck I can go "yup" or "your team is 1-10" Spoeank fucked around with this message at 07:08 on Nov 28, 2014 |

Ha ha ha what a terrible game. Let's ignore the offensive problems for a second. The defense played pretty great for what they were given to work with; we bottled up Lynch well until exhaustion started setting in, and we made some amazing stands that kept the score close. It did feel like we kept getting beat on the same play over and over because the secondary wasn't backing up the linebackers effectively. Wilson made some incredible escapes, but he's still very reliant on them, and my thin comfort is these dark days continues to be that he really is going to fall off a cliff when he loses a step; but he might get the Seahawks back to the Super Bowl a few more times before then, so Seahawks fans can't complain too much. Special teams play has completely collapsed over the last few years, and I don't know who could possibly be blamed for that except Harbaugh. Fumbles on punts happen. Punters who mishandle snaps, however, should have waking nightmares for weeks about the sudden sensation of a backup linebacker's hands, pulling them down, down into that special circle of hell reserved for kick specialists who are somehow still holding on to the ball five seconds after the snap. They must not be allowed to calmly collect themselves and launch the punt downfield anyway. They must know brimstone. Offense, just... fire Greg Roman, for one, and then after you're done burning his gameplans and his playbooks and his player notes and his house and his servants and his cattle, maybe take a good long look at Kaep and see if there's anything there left salvaging. Kaep never has made good decisions, but he did once have some degree of accuracy, and he certainly had an ability to scramble effectively, both of which seem to have been completely lost to time. And I swear there was a point a few years when he was at least trying to make multiple reads.
