an appointment.
Mr. Goongala?
And have been better off continuing to wait for Adams. That last Hitchhiker's is one of the only books I've ever happily thrown away, with the knowledge that that particular copy, at the very least, could never hurt anyone again.

You don't even need to think that. He wrote it specifically to permanently kill off everyone so he would never have to write another sequel since he was so tired of being asked to do so. The whole thing was a giant "gently caress you" to entitled fans.

I believe by last book they are referring to the one released a couple of years ago that was written by Eoin Colfer. I impulse bought it at a closing down sale for a couple of dollars but haven't actually felt a desire to read it.

How would you even follow up that ending? Wasn't the entire cast blown up so thoroughly that every possible quantum iteration of them was also killed?

From what I remember of the ending of Mostly Harmless, they're all just sitting in the club, BETA, and there are two fully functioning spaceships parked outside. The Vogons turn up to demolish the Earth, and it ends with Ford just laughing. So there's nothing to suggest they couldn't just walk away.

The last few paragraphs of Mostly Harmless explain that all of the major plot points from all of the previous books were orchestrated by Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz to ensure that Earth was destroyed correctly the first time. All instances of Earth and its inhabitants were eliminated from space and time, along with all of the events from the entire series.

It was Adams's way of saying, "I wish I hadn't written the first book, now leave me alone."

And then he changed his mind. And then he died. And then a ghost writer undid the ending of Mostly Harmless via Deus ex machina, which ended up to be mostly uneventful.

Not exactly; it started out life as a Dirk Gently book and when he couldn't make it work he decided he would change it into an HHGG book.

I hope the rumor isn't true because holy gently caress we need to move on from Clara already. She was all right this season when Danny wasn't around, but they've been teasing her departure since Kill the Moon and I find it hard to believe they'll find a more suitable moment for her to leave than the Christmas special. It'll be the Ponds all over again. Let Capaldi start the next season with a clean slate!

Pretty much. The Danny thing and aftermath is the perfect time for her to leave.

Let the Christmas special end in a way that lets her part from the Doctor on a happier note, but that should be it.

I for one have loved Clara from the beginning, and Coleman and Capaldi are are great together. They are amazing to watch in any one on one scene and just kill it EVERY TIME. Keep her. Especially now that Danny's kaputs.

In a row.

That's an odd quirk.

Yeah, it'd be a little weird. I mean, I guess it's a better reason to leave than marrying Alien Barbarian King/Rebel Leader because of falling in love in a couple of hours, but definitely sort of bizarre.

This, except without the implication that she has always been bad and with the assertion that she's actually been quite good this season but received a suitable end to her story, which shouldn't be dragged out further.

I don't know, though. I really thought she was leaving after Christmas up to now, but I'm not sure why Moffat and Coleman would continue to be as coy as they are about it. I still lean on the fact that she's leaving because she answers questions about "What are you going to do now that your tenure is over?" in interviews, but it's really weird to be like "Or is she leaving?" There seems to be no benefit in it for them.
