Don't get me wrong, I understand if they need to make it worth the while of whoever is playing the weather, but an unannounced half an hour at the start? The time on the ticket said 7pm, which is when the doors opened. The show proper didn't start until 8.30pm. I'd never seen one of the live shows, so it was somewhat of a surprise. Given how excited I was for the, you know, actual Night Vale thing, being made to wait another half an hour? I'm not much of a music person at the best of times. It's awesome that they are supporting new musicians and giving them exposure, but a heads up would have been cool? Or perhaps half an hour at the end so as to be optional? I was curious as to the opinion of those who weren't expecting it, because it can't just have been me.

It usually says "Night Vale and musical guest" on all the announcements and such. A half hour for an opening musical act is pretty standard.

I'm assuming you were at one of the Europe shows, based on the door time thing. European promoters insisted on listing only a door time instead of a show time, against our wishes. Most of our shows we list both a show time and a door time, as should be standard. As for the musical guest, that's part of our live show and will remain part of our live show. The show time listed is always for the start of the musical guest, as we consider the entire evening one 90 minute show.

It's making me so envious that I wasn't at a half hour Eliza Rickman concert. At the very least, this is hyping me up for whenever WtNV comes back to my neck of the woods.

Big props to Mr. Baldwin for his voice work on this episode. He sounded so sedate in the earlier part of the episode that I was really kind of disappointed. He sounded like any old radio host on NPR. But there at the end, when Cecil started to cheer up again and you could really hear it in his voice, I nearly teared up.

Just discovered this show, listened to the first three episodes. It's pretty neat, I like it so far. I'm hoping the stories get a little more connected to an overall story line as time goes on, with more reoccurring characters that we get to know better than only through Cecil's descriptions, but for now it's really enjoyable and I will continue listening. Basically I'm hoping it's not just disjointed weird "a thing happened" over and over again, but with the callbacks there has already been to a few characters and events, like the Indian guy, Carlos, Old Woman Josey, the event at the Post Office, and institutions like the secret police, city council, etc, it seems to be heading in the right direction for me.

You know, a reason I love this stuff is that the joke could have been really lame if they just stuck a general 'we can't acknowledge angels but one is really nice' thing in. But, like, describing the angel making the sounds and junk and just super trying to sell it as hard as she can made it great.

I'm glad to see the Amber and Wilson subplot is still progressing. It's so delightful to have something so...mundane in this weird little town. I hope to hear more about them.

This was the best holiday special ever. My favorite part was how at the end the monolith provides everyone with presents, which are then dumped into the landfill because commercialism is bad, and then the council tells everyone to discuss their secrets into the spy cameras in their homes. E: Also the extended slurping noise.
