Teaser poster for Bond 24: It's probably meant for more dedicated Bond nerds such as myself, since the cracks and bullet hole are meant to look like an octopus (SPECTRE's logo)

Skyfall was good, but it feels like a totally diffrent Bond to Casino Royale. Honestly, it feels like they didn't understand the complaints about Quantum so they ran back to the camp, goofy Bond we've always had. The directing was amazing in Skyfall, but the script was pretty poor.

Jesus, Craig's proportions are hilariously hosed up. It's amazing that the Bill Clinton photoshopped poster looks better than the original.

Skyfall needed a few more drafts. Craig!Bond's characterization was completely off, I can't see Casino Royale Bond taking advantage of a former sex slave or quipping after Bardem shot the same girl in the head. Brosnan!Bond, sure, but devolving the character back really soured the movie for me. Not to mention that they completely forgot about the hard drive and the explanation of the title was a blink-and-miss it moment. The movie was loving gorgeous, though.

The only two Bond movies I've ever seen are Casino Royale and Skyfall. I hardly remember Casino Royale, but I remember being pretty okay on it, and I actually liked Skyfall quite a bit. But what do I know.

The point of Skyfall was that it was the 50th anniversary of the series so they felt compelled to make something that referenced that rather than a continuation of CR/QoS which I suppose explains why Bond is a grizzled vet all of a sudden.

At least the rest of the world agrees with me (though this being the internet, I'm sure RT/Metacritic are awful metrics somehow): Casino Royale - 95%/81 Skyfall - 92%/81 QoS - 64%/58 QoS is one of about three movies that put me to sleep more than once while trying to watch. Though I agree with everyone that Skyfall could have used a couple of revisions. The pacing and the way the story played out didn't feel very satisfying.

He's a grizzled vet because Daniel Craig ages in real time like a normal person and is in his mid-forties (pushing fifty by the time SPECTRE comes out). For the in-universe reason, just assume those aren't the only two jobs Craig!Bond ever did before Skyfall.

My main problem with Skyfall was they had an opportunity to do something amazing and missed it. After all M's talk about sacrificing for the country I would have liked it if she took the gun and shot Silva by shooting through her own chest. Instead we got axe to the back. It seemed to be set up that that was what she was going to do and it would have been powerful.

Skyfall's final act didn't do much for me, even though I like the film as a whole. The villain dies in a fairly lame way, M croaks because Judi Dench wants to quit acting plus ~drama~, and the home alone stuff was a bit silly. On the plus side, we got Ralph Fiennes as the new M which is nice and the movie really is goddamn pretty. Excited for Spectre.

Skyfall was by far the prettiest Bond movie. I like watching it simply because the aesthetic is gorgeous. Casino Royale is my favorite of Craig's run though. Mads Mikkelsen makes a great villain.

QoS is one of the most ineptly edited big budget films I've ever seen. From moment one it's a torrent of 'what the gently caress were they thinking?' That opening car chase is almost dadaesque.
