In actual coach-chat, do you guys see yourself going after a Schiano, or an Addazio to hold onto that run-first hard-nosed stuff, or do you anticipate a shift in offensive philosophy to go after someone that runs a spread or something? I think I'm more intrigued by your coaching search than I was mine. So much at stake, really. As much as anyone, you guys are at a real crossroads. The wrong hire will probably keep you guys just a cockhair above .500 for the next 10-15. Deteriorata posted:I'm not sure what your point is. History is what it is. http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/clip/10929709/john-u-bacon-on-michigan John U. Bacon on the latest coaching mania. With all the crazy speculation going on, I personally think JUB is the most insightful and thoughtful guy at the moment. He doesn't necessarily know more than anyone else, but he is certainly the most grounded, anyway. For those who don't want to click and listen to a 2-minute interview: 1) Michigan still wants a Harbaugh, #1 priority (Jim or John, but Jim, really). 2) Jim Harbaugh is interested, but is still undecided what what he wants to do. 3) Les Miles remains the most likely alternative. Basically, same point we've been at for several weeks now, with no change until the end of the month. LSU has their bowl game on the 30th, so if they intend to go with Miles he's not available before then anyway. Nothing is going to happen with Jim until his situation with the 49ers is clarified. As long as he remains employed by them, he will say nothing publicly about any other job and will deny any interest. Only when and if the 49ers can him will he be free to speak his mind publicly. Thus Harbaugh to Michigan is still a possibility, if only a small actual probability, and the whole process is being held up waiting for him. Hackett needs an answer eventually, but it will be early January before the whole thing wraps up, it looks like. Meanwhile, enjoy all the stupid click-bait random speculation that's going to be filling the internet for the next few weeks.

Sure LSU is one of the best jobs in the sport, has access to the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country, and has a loaded roster that could compete as soon as next year, but Michigan won a lot of games in the 70s. So obviously he desperately wants to go there and start all over in his 60s rebuilding a terrible program. This is a fanbase that genuinely believes the highest paid coach in the NFL might leave his current job because he wore a Michigan hat one time.

Dan Mullen and Jim Mora seem pretty high on the list. Who the hell knows.

My 6-year-old was pretty upset when I told him that he probably can't be the next head coach of Michigan. In Madden, he runs the same pass or run play for every down, never punts and tends to return kickoffs to the sidelines. Then again, he's never had a player concussed and would immediately get an adult if a stranger wants to sit in and watch film. He would also be excited to wear a headset. I put his odds at 5%
