I think that part of the reason why this happens is that, in the back of our minds, there's this inescapable notion that there simply ARE no actionable causes. As for the article, I think that it's also illustrative of some of the issues I've discussed, though I think that deradicalization is probably the last thing the American left needs and that approaching complex societal issues from the lens of an engineer is destined for spectacular failure. At this point, though, a bad plan now is better than a good plan when half of the global population has died from starvation and dehydration.
