Hope you're having an amazing day

Finally taken the plunge and got round to ordering some bits to get started with a new epic army, slow death robots are go!.. unfortunately exodus wars are out of stock on some of their edenite range for the time being, and I rather like painting units up in one hit so need a handful of little chaps to get myself started, so cross-posting from tacc comms, on the off chance..

quote:

I'd go straight to EW for these but they're out of stock and I want to get started on a new army this side of Christmas... I'm after:

Edenite Assault Sergeant - just a handful, enough to start on a few evil death robot infantry phalanxes, say 4-5 or so?
Edenite Assault Infantry - around 10-12 or so, enough for a few stands and a couple left over

UK preferably, else postage will be more than it's worth, I can paypal as always :) I don't have much to offer for trade that people wouldn't have handfuls of already (lots and lots and lots of marines...)

:3:

I've placed an order which should set me up with enough warriors for two infantry phalanxes and a bunch of immortals and also some edenite infiltrators to use as flayed ones. Now I need to find a decent stand in and/or 3D sculpt my own obelisks and monoliths. Yay!

Does anyone have any metal Necromunda Goliaths (preferably the newer versions) they want to trade? I just got a bunch in auction, but I've got a lot of repeats because I didn't look the photo over well enough. Once my box arrives, I'll have the following:

1x Champion 1
1x Heavy 2 (it appears I won't have a backpack, unfortunately, but I'd be willing to do a trade for a Heavy 1 body)
1x Ganger 1
1x Ganger 3
2x Ganger 4
1x Juve 1

A one-for-one trade works for me. I am willing to consider the older metals as well.

EDIT: I've also got the following new Orlocks to trade for Goliaths:

1x Juve 1
1x Juve 2
1x Ganger 3

Let's do the space-time warp again!

I have seen a handful of places offering alternatives for imperial ships, but ones for Eldar seem pretty scarce. Which is a shame, because some day I would like to have a handful just to own/paint. Guess I'll have to rely on sculpting something myself being too lazy to follow through on anything I think about.

Their not-Nids and not_Tau are nice. Not too keen on the not-Sisters though - they're too much female Marines and not enough Sisters.

They're meant to be able to double up as a marine force as I'm fairly sure the sisters list is still pretty niche and not used in some regions.

Love his work regardless. I have some of his otc and they are amazing. Eying up the sisters and the not dark elves for Christmas...

I've played a few hours of it. I like it. The graphics are a little simplistic and it doesn't do a great job of explaining all of its mechanics to you, but if you've played Panzer General or Panzer Corps (which runs in the same engine from the same developer) then you should feel at home.

I grew up watching my dad play dadgames like it, and I've played a few myself. I got it when it was $30 and it felt like a good price point for me, but different strokes and all that. If you don't know whether or not you like hex-based turn-based strategy games, $40 might be a bit much to find that out.

Cross-posting my Specialist games hobby progress. Preparing for a GorkaMorka campaign in the new year - can't wait! (Although I need a chunk more time to build the models...)

ineptmule posted:

I've been working on some GorkaMorka muties. Pretty pleased with how they are coming out. I've always wanted to make a raiding party of these guys, but the originial models a) cost crazy money these days and b) look like utter balls. I imagine them as being like Tusken Raiders, less 'spikes and tentacles' and more Fallout-style mutated, hideous and bitter about it, so they hide themselves behind the masks and rags etc.

I'm leaning towards differentiating the Unks and Snagas more with the different sized mounts - it makes sense to me, seeing as they are treated as a single model, that having the rather fearsome looking dinosaurs represent a large part of the model's stats, so the heavier, tougher looking old style cold ones work well for the Unks.

First Unk

First Snaga/Seeker

Probably Keeper?

I really don't like the current lizardmen cold ones - they look so goofy, especially their really inept looking forelimbs. GW really hosed up I think with the lizardmen range.

Anyway, I'm pretty new to green stuff, so I'm looking for suggestions on how to build up the stowed kit/gear and make it seem more like it's really attached to the saddle or harness. I've tried to put a sort of leather underlayer beneath each collection of kit, as well as sort of balancing the amount/volume on either side, but these green stuff bits are pretty lacking in detail, so I need some ideas of how to busy it up a bit and make it look a bit more interesting.

Using Forge World Elysians as the base for my new Van Saar gang. I'm really liking the effect. I also think the Elysian lasguns look awesomely different and high-tech which definitely fits for the Van Saar. Here's my VS test model:

The riders for the muties are a big mix of bits but are currently mainly Victoria minis. I also have a load of Kroot bits, arms and weapons from various ranges and heads from pig iron, maxmini... been gathering bits for over a year!

As for the Van Saar, yes - the X-wing pilot vibe struck me as soon as I started painting the Orange boiler suit. I wholly embraced it, of course, by painting the chest armour light grey :D

The head on the VS is from Statuesque, and as I've been saying in the Painting thread - I have some scale issues to work out.

Van Saars are high-tech though. They have access to the best gear and (fluff-wise) are used as high-priority PDF/IG-replacements in times of emergencies.

Yeah I'm not too bothered with the head on this one. The reason I went with heroic scale for the Statuesque minis (they offer truescale 28mm and Heroic) is that pretty much the rest of the heads I could find are on the larger side. I have heads from Victoria Minis, Pig Iron, Brother Vinni and various 40K kits for my Van Saar and heroic definitely seems to be the dominant scale. It's the smaller size of the Elysians that makes the difference I think.

Now my challenge is going to be one of thinking ahead to the campaign. Currently I am running Escher, so it's easy enough to swap one model for another when a ganger gets new gear. If I make a mix of male and female fighters for my Van Saar, I don't think I can bring myself to swap their genders around... so I'll have to make enough of a variety of weapons and gear for both men and women. Oh well - they look cool and are fun to model :)

Edit: In other Necromunda news - my current leader WHAM! rose from the ranks when my old leader took a bolter shell to the chest. She is now a bit of an all round beast, with BS6 WS5 T4 LD9 and a one in a million shotgun called Growler. I've been using the classic Escher with shotgun model for her for a couple of months and I think she's due a kit and model upgrade, so I'm working on this:

It's my first attempt at green-stuffing something as ambitious as a hand, so I'm taking it real slow and building up the structure bit by bit. I've let what's here cure for some strength and now going to work fingers into the detail... shouldn't be too hard? Just need some rolls of slightly different lengths...

Also I want to give her a chainsword or something in her right hand. Anyone know where I could get a kind of 'pointing' chainsword held in a right hand? I'm thinking along the lines of the Scions or Devastator sergeant sword.

The Scion one will totally work, as it's about the right size and definitely for the correct hand. There's two on eBay going for a dollar and change right now.

Essentially, yes. Slitherine put out Panzer Corps a while ago, which was just Panzer General with some new tricks basically. Dadgamers loved it. This is that but 40k.

I'm glad to see Mordheim updating with stuff like this so soon. I think that game has a ton of potential and I want to see it do well. The Sisters seemed awesome from the little I got to play of them in that one tutorial mission. I'm a little excited to give them another shot.
