I don't mind people reading the text in LPs sometimes. It's nice when I have it playing on another monitor while doing something else.

Since we can't all agree about reading onscreen text can we at least agree that it's a huge waste of time and annoying when a VLP of a JRPG doesn't edit out a large portion of the random battles? Edit: V Well they can pad out the time by reading all the text out loud. But on a more serious note the best rule of thumb is to show new enemies or battles where something interesting happens and cut everything else. After you cut out random battles from a JRPG, there's only about three minutes of actual gameplay left.

One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along a thread with my Mod. Across the grey background flashed posts from my career. For each post, I noticed two sets of edit marks in the thread, One belonging to me and one belonging to my Mod. After the last scene of my career flashed before me, I looked back on the edit marks in the thread, I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of edit marks. This really troubled me, so I asked the Mod about it. "Mod, you said once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all the way. But I noticed during the shittiest and worst posts of my career, there was only one set of edit marks. I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me." He whispered, "Even I can't carry shitposts like that god drat."

What would be the best way to tackle the Dissidia games order-wise? Start with the original and then do the new stuff on the second game, or just play the second game in order and skip the first game completely? It probably doesn't matter because the plot's going to make no loving sense either way, but I'm wondering what the best way to theoretically cover the game(s).

# ? Dec 11, 2014 10:43 |

There's no point in playing the first game, IIRC. Even storywise, I think Duodecim has everything in it.
# ? Dec 11, 2014 11:07 |
I've never played Duodecim but from my understanding it has everything the first game had, so there's no reason to show off the first game.
# ? Dec 11, 2014 16:11 |
Yeah, I know about that. I'm just wondering if it matters whether I show the main story first or the new scenario that Duodecim leads with first, and also if it's worth showing the first game off at all since finishing the first game unlocks the story in the second game anyway. Not like it's going to happen for awhile, if it all, but it's an excuse to change the conversation so.
# ? Dec 11, 2014 21:54 |
Eh, I don't think anything in Duodecim's story spoils anything in the base Dissidia story, so you might as well use Duodecim's story mode to introduce mechanics and get people used to how the game works and from there move on to Dissidia's story (mixed with the relevant side-story missions at appropriate times).

Duodecim's story is the prequel to the main Dissidia story and it also much shorter. Your playing through six characters instead of ten. Like everyone else has said, if you finish Duodecim's main campaign with the six characters, it unlocks the main campaign from the first Dissidia. There hasn't been a Dissidia LP yet so I think starting with the main story following the ten from the original roster would be best. Then move into the prequel story afterwards. Also, Duodecim's campaign does effect Dissidia's campaign because certain characters end up switching sides in Duodecim.
