Tiki and Seraph are poo poo and always have been, the rest are fine. Uhlan still has camo which makes it a motherfucker in NCA. If anything I'm curious to see if the new profiles do anything to address how bad the Shitbalang is.

Yeah, agreed. The Tiki and Seraph need to be more like Geckos in price if they are ever going to be attractive. The Uhlans is still 100 points, though, and that's a Jotum/Drago/Cutter territory, where its gonna get outclassed.

Now that the Aquila is no longer a must-take in my head I may have some more room for something like that though, who knows.

You can't take any of those in NCA which is where the TAG shines. It's suffers a bit in competition to the Cutter but it's still a point save and functions in a way where the Jotum and Dragoe can't.

That's the thing. I know I don't want Adriana, Aliens or Aleph. I have no strong feelings about other factions. NCA looks fun, but playing it on low level is likely impossible of the costs, especially when the thread goes SPECIALISTS SPECIALISTS SPECIALISTS all the time. Plus, they have a power armored guy in a trenchcoat. That's awesome. QQ look fun, but i really dislike the one model. The new Corregidor starter hasn't dropped, and those guys were my favorites for a long time.

When I was looking at getting into Infinity, I asked my buddy who plays a lot, "Which faction has the most sniper rifles and trenchcoats?" and he said "PanO!" and then hesitated and said "Well, maybe Haqqislam". So I bought a friends PanO, planning to expand to Haqq later. The Hexa Sniper is literally my favorite sculpt in any wargame ever.

Then an Aleph army fell in my lap so Haqq has been backburnered.

E: The thing about specialists is they are only important if you play ITS. My local playgroup exclusively plays ITS because a few of them are vocal YAMS haters, so for me its really important. If the people you are playing with don't care and just want to play Annihilation games, then specialists aren't a big deal.

NCA does have some good cheap specialists, just not very varied ones. You're basically going to be fielding a lot of Auxilia FOs.

NCA's power level is roughly equivalent to how many Auxilia boxes you're willing to buy and assemble. :v: Seriously, Auxilia are really good, and that's before you realize that they're some of the best specialists in the game. The only thing they don't do is infiltrate (thank goodness). The main reason I'm not playing NCA is that I don't like the Auxilia sculpts.

If you like trenchcoats though, then I'd advise taking a look at either Hassassins (especially the upcoming Govads) or generic PanO-into-later-Svalarheima sectorial when Acheron Falls comes out (Nisse are the original trenchcoat troops). Just consider this picture:

They could do with a facelift and two different boxes considering.how absurdly popular and good they are.

Auxilia pretty nuts even if you take ITS out of the equation but being specialists just pushes them into overdrive.

Long live the Auxbot HFT.

Well, Auxilia do seem to fit the bill of high tech operators a lot better than fusiliers ever would (I'd say new Alguaciles would probably be better if you painted them blue). It's just that their double mag rifles look a little stupid.

And that's a pretty TAG. I like them chunky.

For some reason, I don't want to play Assassins. I have no clear idea why.

By the by, what's the background on NCA? I like the aggressive, fast, high speed future operator look that they have almost as much as I like the stylings of knightly Orders (though I doubt I could get them into melee, so that's why they don't figure into equation). Part of why why I wanted Corregidor was that they're almost a labor union wetwork team and QQ are fun with their merc access.

What's so different about ITS from standart/YAMS?

I would be using new Alguaciles as Auxilia in a heartbeat if I could source auxbots separately. I'm considering just finding some R2D2 minis or claptraps or something.

NCA background is that they are the elite security force for Neoterra, the capital planet of PanO. They are the military of the brightest, shiniest, richest, ruthless-capitalistest cyberpunk planet imaginable. They include private corporate security forces as well, which is what the Hexas are.

Standard games are literally just play until someone goes into retreat and loses all their models. YAMS has hidden objectives you draw out of a deck, most of which revolve around a civilian VIP model. ITS has several scenarios, but most rely on specialists, and all have a 3 turn limit.

NCA are the planetary army of the PanO capital planet. They get the best training, best equipment, and heaviest firepower. That also means that they're PanO taken to the extreme: tons of TO Camo, plenty of TAGs, and high BS skills for everybody. NCA shoots with overwhelming force, but they're not particularly known for maneuver or tricks. They're going to come straight at you and roll over you, flamethrowers and HMGs blazing.

You may want to reread Hexas' background as they're the black ops foreign affairs of the PanO intel arm. Their job is to basically destabilize any threat to PanO, usually via abduction, assassination and covert paramilitary ops.

What I love about PanO fluff is two things:

1. It's so rare for the basic generic "good guys" faction in a game to be neither American nor British. Having it be a Australia/India/Philipines/Vatican mashup is just so unique.

2. They are the bad guys in every cyberpunk setting. They are the trillionaire capitalists clearing out the dirty poors to make room for a new pleasure garden.

Yeah, I wanted to ask about that, too. While I like the Space Catholic Church aspect of PanO, I wonder how Space Trickledown they are.How bad are Megacorps?

All in all, CB seems to be doing good work in not making any faction the obvious favorites/bad guys, not at a glance.

I also like ta note that while all cyberpunk shows corps way more evil than they are in Real Life, Syndicate remake really dropped the ball on that one, and eventually I see the protag's fight against corps doing more bad than good.

In PanO if you're not born into at least a middle class family you are basically hosed. The bottom rung of society for PanO is quite literally ghettos and favelas all shoved out of the way so the rich don't have to remember they exist. It's not as in yourface in the setting as say YJ persecuting the Japanese or Koreans so it tends to get glossed over when people call PanO the goody goodies.

As far as I can tell, Haqq is the actual good guy faction.

They come across as hardcore moderates. They are all the muslims that looked at all the failed governments and social structures the middle east has been struggling with and were like: gently caress y'all, we are getting on a spaceship and leaving and we've got murder squads that will kill any of you crazy radicals that try and follow us with your horseshit. You have to be educated, you have to be reasonable, you have to be tolerant, you have to think about long term sustainability, because we will NOT suffer the ignorant bullshit anymore.

A ton of their unit descriptions are about how one faction or another tried to be evil mustache twirlers who turned on the people and their military forces were like: Nope! and paid for peace and moderation with their blood.

Well, the full army lists are coming at some point. We're just not sure when. I'm still hoping for the .pdf army lists showing up within the new few weeks, but the only official date is for the new version of the official army builder... which is supposed to come out sometime in February.
