Yeah if you're going to be aggressive in going after leg locks in MMA then you'd better be really loving good at them because otherwise you're just putting yourself in lovely position constantly. And even if you are really good at them you're still going to get your face pounded every now and again. Like aside from the Rousimar/Belcher fight, here's another one that sticks out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Jng_Og01Yc Bear in mind that Kitaoka is probably one of the best in the world at these outside of Palhares and Imanari. Interestingly enough he's fought 12 times since this fight and hasn't gotten a single leg lock finish, I wonder if he stopped going for them as much after the beating he took here. Either that or maybe people just caught on. e: ahaha DEEP is putting on a card with 23 fights for New Year's this year http://www.sherdog.com/events/Deep-Dream-Impact-2014-Omisoka-Special-41335 It's like a Sengoku five-year reunion. colonel_korn fucked around with this message at 23:24 on Dec 14, 2014 |

The CSAC will not punish Palhares for holding Fitch's leg too long, per BE. I haven't seen the fight outside of a gif of the finish, though I've heard this was a borderline instance. Fatherdog, hasn't he visited your gym? If it's kosher to talk about these things, is there any truth to how he does this in practice to anyone who's not his brother?

Murilo Bustamante, his mentor and long time defender, went on record saying that he was a danger when things got too out of hand. FD can speak on it or not, but when a guy like Murilo comes out and blasts you its pretty obvious there is a big problem http://www.mmamania.com/2013/10/13/4833362/maurilo-bustamante-says-rousimar-palhares-injured-training-partners I'm not trying to be funny, Rousimar is borderline mentally-handicapped and shouldn't be fighting for everyone's sake. He's gonna ruin more people, promoters are gonna end up in lovely situations, and he's not a world beater so he's going to take more damage. You don't want a guy who is already dumber than punch drunk to get punch drunk.
