Is there any legal precedent behind the "we can inhibit your speech if you ain't from around here" thinking? I don't understand why the monument having "no connection" to Oklahoma has any relevance.

Methane at regular intervals, i.e. not a steady leak; it's possible that it could be getting created by some purely geological process we're not very familiar with (and either way, this means Mars is active, at the very least having something like tectonic plates or shifting subterranean rocks), but if this data is correct, I'd say biology is the most likely explanation.

Here's an article someone put together with a pretty fair approach: http://ht.ly/G07uF

Capitol: A building or complex of buildings in which any legislature meets.
Capital: A city designated as a legislative seat by the government or some other authority, often the city in which the government is located; otherwise the most important city within a country or a subdivision of it.

They do it if the idiot pays them enough.

Colleges and universities will name buildings after anyone who tosses a giant pile of money at them. That's why Texas Tech plays football in the Jones AT&T Stadium (formerly the SBC Jones Stadium) and the Lady Raiders basketball team plays in the United Supermarkets Arena for a few examples.

I seriously can't not parse that dreidel as a British policeman. It's uncanny.

Anyway this is what you get when a holiday that occurs contemporaneously with Christmas doesn't have a cartoony mascot. You get people dressed up as weird anthropomorphic dreidel cops bobbies. We should work on that.

All 10 of A&M's regents were appointed by Perry, including a petroleum CEO, a former ExxonMobil president, an insurance and banking tycoon, and the founder of "the Young Conservatives of Texas at Tarleton State University." They have helped advance his often turbulent efforts to replace traditional professor tenure in the A&M system with contracts for instructors, greater emphasis on student evaluations in teacher retention, and a general business orientation.

OK that's funny. Any adjunct will tell you* how to boost the ratings and get retained: grade easy and don't bother with strictly enforced attendance. That just happened to also be a massive disservice to the students but gently caress them right?

if you want to develop an even deeper hatred of the cia, former deputy director michael morell, and charlie rose, watch their interview. not recommended for those with high BP. highlights include rose accepting morell's premise that torture was both necessary, is unfairly catagorized as torture and should only be called interrogation (which rose obliged), that it got lots of useful info, and that man would people be mad if they know what we're still doing right now! one choice quote:

I wouldn't doubt it. Petroleum engineering and petroleum geology are big here, and a lot of money going to those schools comes from petroleum companies, so it's probably not hard to find someone to agree with fracking=good.
