Prior active/older people loved mobilizing to Cuba as it was a vacation, non-prior/junior people were annoyed it wasn't a "real MOB". Fishing, scuba diving, and cooking out and drinking on the beach sound pretty great to me.

Analogical posted:Out of all the world leaders not to push, I rank Putin very highly at the top of that list. Actually he's the only person on that list. There's a few other people who would retaliate but have no means to. I'm not saying Russia is armed to the teeth given most of their gear is from the Cold War, but they're armed enough to make it uncomfortable for us, and especially uncomfortable (re: fiery) for eastern Europe. Especially seeing as we don't know the full capability of Russian cyber forces, which is their biggest asset and they've known that. Russia can't do jack poo poo so long as the overlapping EU/NATO block exists. He might hope some economical/political calamity could split 'em apart, but that remains a jingoist wet dream. In reality Russia can't even fully dominate lesser peripheral nations like Georgia or Ukraine without the full commitment of it's armed forces. Which it is too scared to commit, because it might finally prod the westerners into some form of action. And for all the bluster and chest beating over Russian power and western weakness, I think that is the most telling appraisal of Russian military might. They are worried over the loving continental Europeans responding. That's not to say Russia cannot still do something incredibly dumb that would have bad consequences. Like say driving on Kiev, for realsies this time. He just can't do much of anything to anyone outside the old soviet sphere. As for the hackers, I don't imagine the Russian infrastructure or economy is terribly well protected against hacking. Or us giving the Chechens a bunch of last gen drones to play with for that matter. I don't know what you want Obama to do. Seems to me letting the Russian economy be another collateral to the oil war between OPEC and the frackers while maintaining some sanctions for looks is working just fine. psydude posted:Welp, the US and Cuba are in talks right now to re-establish diplomatic relations and reopen embassies. Cool that there is a segment of people that believe the people of Cuba, most of whom weren't alive when this poo poo all started, should be systematically hosed over because "reasons" I guess if those Cubans didn't want to suffer from the embargo they should've had the good sense to be born to a family whose patriarchs left before it went down Also, gently caress Marco Rubio maffew buildings fucked around with this message at 20:58 on Dec 17, 2014 |

I don't think Cubans and their descendants in the Tampa Bay area ever cared all that much about the embargo, they mostly came here long before the revolution. Lots of Cuban families in the area have been here since the late 1800's/early 1900's and most don't even speak Spanish anymore. It's the Miami Cubans that have the hate boner for the Castro's

The old guard Cuban expats were very anti Castro but the younger generation doesn't see it as a big deal. The dynamics have changed a lot. Furthermore, we maintain semi normal relations with Venezuela and even more normal relations with China. I'm not really sure what the point of the embargo is anymore.
