Luisfe posted:RE6 is a FANTASTIC action game. The campaigns are very, very fun in co-op. It is not a "horror" game but it is a fun co-op action game. I have played through campaigns multiple times with several people who all end up picking the game up and enjoying it at face value. Has it deviated from the source style of gameplay? Significantly. Is it still fun? Yep. I never went into a Resi game expecting a riveting story, though, that's for sure. New page! Man do I wish I could play Fatal Frame V. I played IV via softmodding the Wii and putting the English patch on it and that was... well, it was good enough to play the game, anyway, but I'm somehow less optimistic about V.

I disagree. RE6's campaign is meh. Leon's is ok, Chris is tolerable but Jake and Sherry have the worst campaign out of all of them. I say this has a guy who co op this game. It's great for Mercs and the co op campaign is meh. Just avoid Jake and Sherry's campaign. It's the worst one out of them all.

Okay so Evil Within is getting better now that I'm out of the starting few chapters. Still weird though, now the hiding spaces never get used, and it's much more of a RE4-style game (with minor stealth elements). Now that I actually have weapons, like the crazy AGONY CROSSBOW, I can take on multiple enemies at once...the only worry is that one enemy that shows up around chapter 4-ish, the multi-armed long-haired woman. Loading screen tips literally say that she can be killed, but it's almost certainly not worth it. I'll give the game credit for genuinely creating moments of fear that aren't just based around worry about jump scares showing up, but about some freaky-rear end thing that'll tear my poo poo apart. Few games do that.

It's so unfocused and changes gameplay conceits so often that there's bound to be at least one segment (and probably more than one) that you will absolutely despise. For me it was the motorcycle section. Other people can't stand the snowmobile. Then there's the low-visibility section. So on, so on. It's got a decent endboss and Jake is the only entertaining character in the game but it's a total mess. Emblematic of RE6 as a whole, really.

One handy thing with her is that fire will stun her for a pretty good amount of time even if it's not an instant kill like on normal enemies.

I just wish the plot was more coherent. It's not even discordant in a cool, insane kind of way. My friends and I are on, I think, Chapter 9, and there's little in the plot keeping us interested - it just seems like a random mishmash of locations with little or no reason to them at all. You're in a sewer! Now you're in a village! Now you're in some catacombs! Now you're back in the hospital! More caves!

DreadOut had a big update yesterday, apparently now the demo section is integrated into the main game as part of the story. Also there are engine changes which they mention are in preparation for Act 2, which means it's apparently actually happening sometime soon. http://steamcommunity.com/games/269790/announcements/detail/250279251827804094

It makes a ton of sense!...once you finish the game unlock the model viewer, which gives detail on all the monsters and so on. I think they tried for a 'less is more' approach when it comes to story telling, but just ended up confusing the gently caress out of everyone instead.

It's buggy, but the worst of the worst networking and loading bugs seem to have been ironed out. It's far more fun when you play with people you know. Playing with randos just gets frustrating. It's 100% an atmospheric game, and playing in the wrong mood will make it boring, tedious, tiresome slog. In the dark with headphones it can be a good bit of fun, but the concept wears thin if you're not way into the game. $5 isn't bad for it, but if you're not into the concept then it doesn't somehow open up and surprise you later on.
