any tips for getting used to the camera in MG:R? I've been fighting the camera more than the mooks/metal ray, and going into blade mode seems to always have me facing empty air. inverted camera modes, lower or higher sensitives?

I bought a Federal Dropship. 12 million left in the bank, insurance is 1.4 mil which is what an Asp with top tier kit cost. I'll be grinding a bit to get back into A class gear, but since I have the most fun with the combat track it was time to move into a specialist ship. With a modest loadout I just axed an Anaconda fast without dropping shields and without the use of shield cells. This thing is going to be sick when I have the cash to upgrade more. As it is now Cobras pop like Sidewinders used to when i had the Asp.

Hekk posted:Mainly how to talk to ATC and program radios and stuff. I can take off and land and navigate ok now. If you have zero aspirations about flying on VATSIM, don't even bother with that poo poo. The most you'll have to use radios for are some aircraft that require the ILS freq to be dialed in on a separate control unit. The built-in ATC for X-plane is mostly terrible and will get you completely lost more than anything else.

tuluk posted:Cyseal cheese vendor still alive the best decision you've made yet. Anyway re: Elite, if you don't like the idea of a game with very little in the way of structure, don't buy it. You really have to create your own poo poo to do, and there's a good chance that whatever it is you want to do may have a significant credit barrier that will require you to grind. I'm not playing that way and I'm enjoying it fine, but if you just want a space combat simulator, wait to see if they improve that aspect of it. Or wait for Star Citizen to never come out.

ded posted:this a seriouspost? :/ The flight model is decent'ish, but I'm not a huge fan of it. Bounty Hunting actually pays for something now which is nice. The problem is that actually getting to the actual fight is tedious as poo poo. If you get a kill warrant scanner it gets even more tedious since you have to fly all the way back to the system where the bounty was put out. The only time it gets actually exciting is if you're fighting something way above your weight or another human player. Basically you warp to a resource extraction site and start targeting everyone around you until you find someone wanted, and kill them. You keep doing this for however long you want, fly back to the local station and turn in your bounties. Repeat. With bounty hunting targets in other systems you add the extra step of having to pay off fines if the target ship has a clean record in that system, even though they're wanted in another.

I love everything else, but dog fighting is my favorite part of any space-sim and the weapons in ED have never really felt like anything other than Laser Tag. Not to mention the actual combat maneuvering feels way too simple. It feels like WoW style combat in a flight sim, I'm pressing buttons and killing stuff, but it's just not satisfying on some level. Honest to god it's the one thing Star Citizen really nailed with their new patch, weapons feel like instruments of devastation instead of flashy stat-sticks
