suffix posted:afaict the reason coreos doesn't like it is that its starting to compete with their own services on top of docker I'm acquaintances with some of the CoreOS guys (we did some work with them earlier this year) and to my mind they seem much more attuned than Docker Inc to the production needs of F500 companies. Docker Inc still seems to be in this mode of "great user experience" and "hello world" tutorials which work great on a laptop and sell the concept to developers, but don't actually solve anything in production. They announce Docker Swarm and Docker Machine, and serious users are wondering why they bothered since we've already got Vagrant and etcd/fleet. Couldn't they have used those development resources to attack the more important unsolved problems, like orchestration and scheduling? CoreOS wanted to work with Docker to create the ACI, and submitted PRs 3 months ago to create a proper container spec, but they were ignored. Their take is that Docker Inc wants to build an all-encompassing platform where everyone's beholden and vendor-locked to Docker Inc. The community can avoid that by creating an open standard, because an open spec is kryptonite to vendor lock-in.

Aleksei Vasiliev posted:bittorrent that can't be taken down by raiding sites like tpb i get the point is that, on top of that, individual users "can't" get doxxed by the mpaa or whatever (let's just ignore the whole "lol why would you connect to the network if not for crimes, what are you downloading, linux isos?" can of worms for now because it's only tangential) idk maybe i just have no idea how tor actually works (probably the most likely scenario). but even though they didn't actually intend for everyone for be an exit node, isn't the point with tribler still that everyone should at least be a "non-exit" node that routes other people's traffic? maybe i'm wrong about that in which case i don't know how it would even reliably work, or if i am right then lol don't enough people complain about bittorrent ratios enough as is without also having to route several times their own traffic for other people? though i guess ratios are more of a private tracker thing whereas dribler is aiming to be one great big lovely public tracker with terrible bandwidth

tbh Sony making that movie trivial to pirate a) does nothing to it's availability illegally b) may be intentional just to say F U to NK c) B is probably not true but A sure is.
