Fantastic, it crashed on me and corrupted my profile. I had to replace it with a backup from March and lost a shitload of recorded progress/unlocks. Stupid me for not backing the profile up again before playing.

If you still have your save file from when it crashed you can try the save game toolkit which claims to be able to repair corrupted save files: https://sites.google.com/site/cozy1cgi/

I wish I'd waited before overwriting the corrupt profile with my backup so I could have tried this. Thanks for the link, I'm definitely going to keep a copy of this handy.

I should probably backup just in case. What all do I need to copy? I don't see a Rocksmith directory under My Documents so I'm figuring it's somewhere in either the game's directory or AppData.

I fucking hate puzzles.
I'm the bad Rocksmith player that only ever plays on the weekend with my girlfriend, but we've been doing so for about 4 months now. I got her a Ibanez Gio for her birthday and she's actually starting to catch up to me in skill. She still claims she has retarded fingers when it comes to chords but she seems to be catching double steps, power chords, and the easy chords (Em, D, Am, ect) without a lot of hassle.

Generally she's been learning lead and I really feel like I've blossomed on rhythm in that time. For comparison, when we first started playing I was in the retarded chord fingers phase until I basically forced myself to play rhythm for several hours. Maybe it's time to get her on rhythm and get her into chords proper.

Every time in the last few months that I felt like I haven't been making big progress on such limited practice time, I turn around and spend a few hours tooling around the guitarcade and find that I'm constantly blowing my previous high scores out of the water by a factor of 3 or more. I'm in like the top 5000 now for Ducks on PS3 rather than the top 20000 now which is pretty significant progress.

My only wish, as someone who is currently primarily playing multiplayer, is that I want there to be multiplayer guitarcade games. There could be something like Super Sliders HD from Rocksmith 2012 setup for multiplayer Battle Tetris style competition. Maybe let you set up handicaps to account for differing skill levels.

For the record, our favorite song to play has been Tom Petty's Good enough and we really didn't start playing it until recently.

The tracks should show up after that. Although I've had issues where the song appears, but has an X by it and the game won't let me play it. I don't know why that happens. I'm chalking it up to a corrupted file or something.

Unless I'm mistaken, the X means the song doesn't have an arrangement for your chosen path (Lead/Rhythm/Bass). There's a fair few songs on CustomsForge that only have Lead or Bass tracks, for instance.

You hold the pick normally and play with it, but with the other fingers you pick finger-style. It's also called chicken picking.

I would seriously rather have that than nothing. Or they could have a few broad genre choices to pick from without being able to fill in whatever you want like that when adding a song.

Besides the most obviously popular bands it's so random that I think I'm just going to go through every page.

I would have expected some Sleep or High on Fire to be there for sure, but hey I'll take Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, just would never have thought to search for them. Or Alizée, but hey why not :aatrek:

The problem is, for example, I'm a simple man.

To me Disturbed is rock. To you younger people it's "nu-metal" or even metal.

Some might call GnR classic rock these days, but I'd put in CCR.

How about some Chuck Berry? He's pretty much the genesis of rock but most kids would throw him under oldies or something.

Is Clapton blues or classic rock?

No, there's no way to really classify something as a genre, maybe instead there should be a related aspect.

For example, you can tag related bands. So if I wanted to toss up Candlebox, I would throw in some good alternative grunge bands like Collective Soul, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, or Silverchair. Those could be "tagged" in the window. This way people can discover different bands based on genre.

Are there really people saying that you shouldn't classify the music? Look guys, take a page from porn sites, use tags, and let people vote on the tags, it's not loving science. Nu metal or Newmetal, let people vote for a classification. Rock is rock, or old school rock, or boomer rock, or whatever it's called nowadays, it needs to be able to be searchable. People will tag it properly over time

I'm A simple Man is stoner 1970's rock, obviously. It's not freaking hard. Having a genre to search by is much better then it is now with no genre to sort or search by.

Yes, you have to buy the Disc Import Tool on Steam as well as the original game. Consoles work the same way.

I'm having a bit of an intonation problem.

I am pretty new to guitar - I've tried teaching myself before but never really put forth much effort. I started out playing Rocksmith with a Squire Strat, but I've always liked the Agile AL-2000 guitars and when I read they were being discontinued I picked one up.

I really like the guitar - I had some intonation issues at first but adjusted out of them to the point where I could play songs without issues. I'm progressing through the lessons, but I'm having trouble with the intonation on my low E string on "Shifting 101".

In the lessons itself, it always thinks I'm a fret off. If I play the practice track, I hit it perfectly every time.

I've checked the intonation multiple times and it appears good.

Any ideas?

Use the precision tuner in the pause menus or whatever to see exactly what the game thinks you're playing, and watch the meter as you play some stuff moving up the fretboard

You should really use a better tuner to check your intonation properly (notes shouldn't get sharper or flatter as you move up the neck), but the game sometimes has issues, and this way you can spot them happening.

It could be a guitar/technique thing (pressing too hard/action too high/strings too slack) or a tuning thing (the string-by-string tuner thing is bullshit) or the game could be glitching if your signal's too low or you're running it too hard with the audio and video settings

Yeah, check your grip on the neck. On my guitars if I get too antsy and start pressing down too hard it'll stop registering notes. I've found that if I tune the strings to be slightly flat according to Rocksmith's crap tuner (I try to keep it between -9 and -4 on the in game tuner) that it helps compensate when I start getting over grippy.

I get that too even with 320 hours played, it's mostly because I still mostly sight read the songs and don't trust my muscle memory to just take over. The times I just let go and play, it goes a lot better.

Yeah. When I'm playing from memory or tab I don't have the same problem. It's only when I'm trying to read the noteway in RS that it happens.

I also still get cramps in my thumb from barre chords but I gather that's pretty much par for the course even for long-term players.
