what is the bass equivalent of an Epiphone Special II LP?i have one, but i kind of gave up on it years back.i recently borrowed a friend's bass for Rocksmith and i'm having an absolute ton of fun with it, so i'm looking to sell/trade it for a bass that's equivalent in quality and price.i plan on using it with a DAW and recording stuff on PC (maybe turn it into a midi controller somehow?).if there are any 5-strings in that range, even better. e: dunno why i didn't post this in the Music Forum.like the informality of here, i guess.

Just to retouch on an old subject. Double Neck bogus JEM order from china has been a complete failure. After being told through chat, "oh, first one damaged in transit, i send you new one!" and not having a new working tracking number sent, I waited a few more days with my messages still being ignored and opened a dispute to get a refund. Dude immediately makes contact and changes his story to, "I'm building it now, will be finished tomorrow and I'll send you pictures. That's good yes?" Nope, refund the easy way or I'll raise it with my credit credit provider and request a charge back. Interesting how he's now panicking like cockroaches when the lights come on. New plan is to wait out the winter and just build the drat thing myself, cost of materials will be higher and it'll take more time but it'll be a rewarding experience, plus I'll actually have something by the end of it. Those colourful Telecasters made me think of the Crash Stratocasters from a few years back.

With as much crap as Ibanez gets for their high end stuff, they are still one of the best entry level guitar makers out there. They have all sorts of offerings in the lower price ranges that just aren't part of the others entry level stuff, or even the non custom made stuff. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/ibanez will give you an idea of their current pricing offers. As an added bonus they don't tend to hold value in resale so check you local craigslist or pawn shops for old beater basses, a lot of people quit playing bass after the first couple weeks of ripping up their fingertips (This will happen, coated strings will help). Welcome to playing bass! Your welcome package containing "Zany" items to wear while playing with others and the "Bass Goggles" that make bass guitars attractive will arrive in the mail shortly.

I've just scored some mahogany from an old dresser that should be pretty good for a neck laminate or two. Using recycled stuff is fun. That's fine by me. I like playing poo poo that is unique. That's the only thing I don't like about my acoustic tenor... It looks like every other acoustic tenor on the market. I'd prefer a pan or something substantial, I plan to gig with it and will need it to be somewhat resilient. If you can find a way to make it sound like a lovely AM radio as well as a full bodied sound, it'd be that much better. I can get you the specs for the neck of my tenor if you'd like. Also, did you ever plaster my guts all over that Romanian Les Paul?

I'd imagine the latency would be ridiculous on bass as even lower notes on guitar are too slow to play in real time. Midi from guitar is also so lovely that you'll spend more time cleaning up the track than playing it/learning to play keyboard so you don't have to deal with that poo poo.

Speaking of NAMM 2015... Now to start with our old favorite: I'd still want one if it had certain changes in features the guitar A JEM-like that at least some of you guys won't hate and finally... How much did Ibanez pay you for your prototype WDE? Also just to round it out there's this thing: A smart move from Ibby, especially if they can put it out for cheap (rumor's less than $100).

I will get your x-rays on that stupid janky guitar, just having trouble getting it printed out onto vinyl. Apparently "Please print actual size" means "Print it out 20% smaller". This has happened twice now and I've been all over the printing templates I've created multiple times so I have no idea why the same thing happened with two different companies, some sort of weird bug in whatever software they are using I guess. A friend has a son who is doing Graphic Design at university, so I'll probably get him to print it out. umalt posted:

Just use the real x Ray with a clear pickguard over it. Original X-rays ooze vintage tone, repros don't have that iron curtain warmth.

Worst case scenario is that I'll have to use paper and lacquer over it, which isn't too bad as long as the lacquer doesn't eat the ink.

Soldering guns are mainly used for plumbing (attaching bits of copper pipe together) and use acid-core solder. It's do-able with a soldering gun, but a pen-style one would work better.
