Didn't some of the higerups in Capcom basically state a few months ago that if a title didn't break 1,5 millions units it wouldn't get a sequel? Of course, getting an MMO version of Dragon's Dogma is even worse than not getting a sequel so I guess we are hosed either way.

Definitely, it improves stuff like crafting and menu speed, gives you fast travel items, and the DLC Island is fantastic. Really hard though.

They tweaked the classes a bit, magic archer is pretty crazy now once you get decent weapons.

It's almost worth it just for the Eternal Ferrystone (which you get for importing your vanilla save into Dark Arisen) and added fast travel spots alone. The fixes in menus and crafting are nice and intuitive. Letting you pick and choose between DLC items at the Black Cat, and throwing all the challenge board quests into the mix without having to shell out for two dozen different DLCs is good. Bitterblack Isle is awesome all around. Assassin caught a nerf or two, but it's not really a big deal.

So, yes, definitely worth it.

Seriously though, story-wise it would be cool to explore the world and origins of the pawns. I remember the pawns saying something along the lines of "the ruins seem familiar", giving the impression they lived in the city that Gran Soren is built on a long time ago. Atleast I had that feeling.

I wouldn't mind coop DD. I remember when DD was released and everybody was shocked it wasn't coop and hated the pawn system. They do listen to the community.

This is the only change from vanilla DD to Dark Arisen that I think was a bad one. Literally, and I mean literally everything else they changed was for the better in the end.

You mean mildly nerfing Assassin down from "unstoppable killing machine" to "theoretically stoppable but practically an unstoppable killing machine" was a good change?

I'm pretty ok with it. It gave my favorite classes more of a chance to shine. Magick Archer cleans house in Bitterblack Isle and I like it that way.

I still feel kind of bad Warrior was passed over for any kind of upgrade, though. Even 3rd tier skills.

I had a question. I was able to get through the main game without too much trouble but whenever I try doing the Dark Arisen content, I get absolutely crushed.

I've only done two playthroughs and both of them were me mostly playing warrior with a little bit of strider or mage until I could access the Mystic Knight vocation, which I then stuck with for the rest of the game.

Should I have been playing lots of different vocations to get the most out of my stats and augmentations? Or do I just need to level up more in post-game content before visiting Bitterblack Isle?

/\/\/\ it's best to spread yourself around a bit for augments, but as long as you play to your class's strengths you should be fine specialising. Bitterblack Isle is just crammed with tough enemies, you can die there past level 100.

I refuse to play Bitterblack with any other class. I don't even know what it's actually like to fight eliminators and elder ogres, since my experience of them is knocking them down with lightning arrows and just firing and firing until they die.

Just grind out some levels and/or get better gear. Even a small boost in offense/defense can help thanks to how defense work (if your damage is below the enemy's defense, even by a single point, it gets massively reduced; if it's above, it barely gets reduced at all). Alternatively you can abuse Conqueror's/Demon's Periapts if you kept Fournival alive (since he sells infinite). You can have up to four buffs at a time, and the same buff stacks, multiplicative. So 4x Conqueror's Periapts will give you ~200% damage, and magic with Demon's.

If you wanna do BBI at lower levels you need to min/max your stat gains.

Dipping into other vocations for the augments is DEFINITELY recommended. Mystic Knight can be tricky if you try playing it aggressively, but they are very useful! Ripostes, buffs and area denial are MK bread and butter.

And like 2house said, BBI is just difficult in general. If you feel like you're simply dying too much, try hanging around the Everfall for levels/lifestones/gear or doing some offline Ur-Dragon runs to get your gear up to Dragonforged in addition to getting a few exceptional Holy-enchanted weapons. They make a world of difference.

In BBI, you can ricochet hunter almost everywhere, and it is great. I rarely used the skill in the maingame since you're in big open areas fairly frequently. But, main, ricochet stunlocking stuff in BBI is fun as gently caress.

You'll see "Your pawn has returned from helping an arisen in another realm" or something like that. Then it will show you what the other person sent you and what they rated your pawn. If your pawn dies, you won't get a gift and the rating will be a default three stars. You will get RC regardless of how your pawn was returned.

So I'm connected to Xbox live and I can find other folks' pawns, but I don't ever have that happen to me. Also I've found that when I search for "pawns your pawn knows" it says "could not receive the information". Is this a common error?
