and I'd been workin' like a dog

my car throws up an intermittent check engine light with codes P0010 and P0011

P0010 - Intake Cam Position sensor Open Circuit
P0011- Camshaft Position system actuator bank1 timing over-advance

2009 Chevy Cobalt

fix it

Piso Mojado

another truck question, but probably applicable for cars too

I have a good amount of hail damage on the hood/roof. Not really noticable from a distance but if the light catches it right..eeks!

what is the best way to get rid of those tiny dents?

thats good. you'll need an alignment if your car is pulling to one side when you're going straight ahead on a flat road, if not, dont worry about it unless you've just bought a second hand car that feels a bit weird or had an accident where the wheel may have been hit or suspension components may have been damaged

I'm thinking about getting a Mazda 3. I wanna get used but the last generation looks kind of like a smiley face car. the newer gen looks sick IMO. I would rather buy used though

buy used, but mazda 3's rust pretty bad underneath, especially the sills, make sure to look under the sides below the doors and check for any crispy bits

might need to replace the camshaft position sensor. does it occasionally cut out or fail to start?

not a body specialist, but i'd say there's not really much you can do other than get all of them pulled out and the entire roof & hood resprayed, which will likely cost more than what the car is worth

nope, my car has never actually failed to start, the only thing i've ever noticed is some rough idling or low speed driving in parking lots and stuff, but i'm not mechanically inclined enough to know what the camshaft / crankshaft actuator solenoids really do, y'know?

the camshaft + crankshaft sensors just tell the car's computer where the engine (crankshaft or camshaft) is at any given time, so it knows what cylinder to inject fuel into @ what time to start the vehicle properly & poo poo like that

if it's not cutting out i wouldn't worry about it

The plastic on the front right door makes clicking noise all the time. I don't know how this is possible, or why this is possible. I'm pretty sure it knows it's my pet peeve, and I know it hates me. But I'd like to have it sorted out without having to buy a new panel.

i get the same thing on my clio with the bit right next to my ear on the driver's door. usually jamming a bit of paper or card in the gap will stop the buzzing, alternatively putting gum or something like silicone sealer in there will do it

There's an audible click coming from the engine and slight fluctuation in rpm when I have the AC on and it happens every 20 seconds or so. This car knows I hate clicky things and it likes to do that a lot.

that's just the AC fan switching on, nothing to worry about but it can be annoying

they are talking poo poo, it's meant to do that and if you try to check the 'AC fluid' you will be poisoned by gas and die.

Sorry what he said was "R134 refrigerant might be low, A/C compressor is supposed to cycle but not that often. You should get the A/C system checked". Does this sound like it might kill me less?

it's expensive and requires specialist equipment, so unless the AC isn't working i'd ignore it

the turn signal switch in my 2002 Oldsmobile Alero was replaced recently, and ever since it's been intermittently having trouble starting or even the engine will shut off while I'm driving. I took it to the shop that did the switch and they said it should be fixed with the GM recall poo poo, but when I took it to the GM dealer, all they did was modify the ignition key. meanwhile, my car no longer starts at all, when I try the starter tries to do it but makes a slightly ugly noise, and the engine never turns over.

how hosed am I?

the turn signal switch wouldnt cause starting issues unless they disconnected the battery for some reason and didn't put the terminals on correctly after the job. So that's probably just co-incidental.

what kind of noise does it make when you try to start it? is it a clicking sound and nothing happens at all, or is it that the engine turns a little with the starter going but sounds slow/weak as piss before stopping?

could be camshaft or crank position sensor, but the noise would give me a better idea
