This story is amazing for all the wrong reasons: Texas Gun Slingers Police the Police—With a Black Panthers Tactic. A bit of background. Open Carry Texas has been ratcheting up its activities in North Texas, especially the Arlington and Tarrant County areas over the past year. They have staged many events in and around Arlington, the home of both the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys, in close proximity to Arlington's major tourist attractions for maximum effect. Now, these same guys are highjacking the current police protest moment to push their own interference and oversight of police activities, while they are carrying their weapons. The reason they haven't been shot yet is because they are all white or hispanic. Plus, Arlington is not exactly a hot bed of crime so the police are usually not going in with guns blazing to calls. quote:The group is led in part by Kory Watkins, an Olive Garden bartender trainer and a bandwagon activist who also presides over Open Carry Tarrant County (OCTC). (He’s also the host of Open Carry Cop Watch, an Internet radio show that’s launching this week.) Chasing leads from police scanners, members of OCTC and a local faction known as Cop Block—another loosely organized group of anti-law enforcement libertarian-leaners—have been gathering in the approach to DUI checkpoints and speed traps to warn motorists of the police presence, responding in real time with cops to 911 calls, making impromptu stops to film strangers’ traffic violations, all while trolling the police they observe. (During the heckling, bacon references abound, and some cop-watchers even wear police hats with pig ears attached as they follow officers.) According to Watkins, who often carries his AK-47 while cop-watching, the group makes as many as 20 stops a session, depending on the night. These people are not civil rights activists. They are libertarian shitheels who literally want to take Texas back to a frontier life style where everyone walks around with a gun strapped to their hip. edit: the picture at the top of that story is not from Texas because open carry of handguns is currently illegal in Texas; only the open carry of long rifles is legal radical meme fucked around with this message at 21:44 on Jan 2, 2015 |

I'm all for gun control, but that isn't the world we live in. So why not follow in Heuy's footsteps? It did work the first time and (temporarily) curb police violence. As an added bonus for gun control nuts like me, it also led to some very stringent gun control laws. Win-win. I looked into representing my second amendment rights at some protests in Oakland. I learned I don't have any second amendment rights, at least not any that count. The rest of the country should follow in our footsteps.

DARPA posted:http://www.cnn.com/2015/01/02/justice/georgia-police-chief-wife/index.html?c=homepage-t Guns don't 'go off' unless they're so old or so poorly maintained that you're at fault anyway for using it. You pulled the trigger, either accidentally or on purpose, and it fired, because you were stupid enough to sleep with a loaded firearm in your bed and turned the safety off. EDIT: Right, I forgot they don't actually have a physical safety switch, so it's entirely possible for someone to sleep fire it. Assuming they somehow grabbed the loving thing while asleep and then shot their wife in the back by having a loving gun with no safety switch in their god damned bed at night. Seriously holy poo poo what was the thought process that led to that. Kitfox88 fucked around with this message at 14:19 on Jan 3, 2015 |
