That was a great party!

I took quite a few screenshots during the event, which you can find here.

I nominate you to be the official photographer for all future events.

Edit:

So based on feedback I was thinking, what about doing a NoP event next (with far less expensive prizes, obviously) for either Chinese New Year (of the goat, 5th Feb) or for Easter (5th April, full of egg-citing puns and the like)? The races seemed popular so we can steal those (maybe do some space based ones in private challenges, winners of heats going through to finals?), throw in some more trivia for people who hate the races and are strong in google-fu and depending on the occasion have more tailored costume contests.

Two things that came up today....

1) How does the Delta rep shield's hardening proc compare with the fleet shield proc? Since who the gently caress can even tell the Cryptic Math just by looking at the things. My instinct is that a resilient fleet shield is still better, but if the procs are... roughly comparable then the delta shield might be better on sciboats and other things you'd want a covariant shield on.
2) Is there any list of which warp/singularity cores get which mods on a quality upgrade? I swear I saw one at some point but I can't seem to find it again, and it's not like there's anything in the game that would tell you this. :effort: If nobody's got one, then we probably need to start a page on the wiki for item upgrades.

The three main rep set warp cores- CC, Delta, Dyson- all get [AMP] at ultra-rare. They're very expensive upgrades, though. The freebie Obelisk core gets [Trans] and the Tal Shiar Adapted core gets [EWS].

IIRC, hardness and resist are the same stat, just different names. Think of hardness as resist all.

Giving up on even the pretense of playing anything besides my main character was the smartest (and unfortunately necessary) thing I did in DR. Even on Kahr I've only just now maxed out Intel and Pilot and I play... not as much as some people, but still a fair bit. Guess I'll just be saving spec points meanwhile.

Dear PWE, please fix queue failures and queue XP rewards, thanks.

I haven't even maxed out a single spec tree yet and I was running queues pretty frequently back in December.

Queues don't really compare to just grinding.

Yeah, at the moment you can either get spec XP or dil/marks at a decent rate. Only one at a time.

Can't imagine why queues are empty.

I can't be too mean about it myself. It's pretty clear that the staff have rather... strict limits on what they can actually give away as prizes. Look at how they quickly changed from a universal giveaway (costumes or whatever) to limited random raffle in the streams, for example.

Most of what I know about this game is still stuck in the 2-3 years ago "engineer is king" phase. Since then a lot has been added and a lot has changed. There are people trying to tell me it is now better to run beams on an escort as opposed to dhc's. This goes against all I know, are they wrong, did at some point beams become the number 1 King of dps?

Technical Analysis
Nov 21, 2007

I got 99 problems but the British ain't one.
You can just as easily run cannons and still do plenty of DPS, but BFAW and beams are pretty fantastic for high number DPS. Also, Engineers have been dethroned. With Plasmonic Leech being available fed side, Tacs are now king poo poo of DPS mainly because of alpha strikes. Plas leech just keeps power levels high enough to not give any fucks about weapon power drain.

Groundside Engineers are king of DPS still, new traits have that Beam-o-Death be a DoT that chases around your target rather than a one shot thing. Tacs still have that support/buff role they've always had and science is still the healer/debuff they've always been.

There's a few things at work here at the moment really.

The first is that a few years ago, being able to keep weapon power level maximized was a huge damage boost, and engineers having multiple skills to help this gave them an indirect way of buffing their damage. At the moment though, assorted varieties of mudflation means that any class can keep weapon power maxed out (due to warp cores, plasmonic leech being cross-faction, added traits, new Intel skills, evolution in builds that make EPTW chaining easy, etc.) So at the moment engineers have no offensive bonuses in space at all and 90% of PVE remains just killing things quickly an efficiently.

As for beams on escorts... eh that's hardly required, and not even ideal for a lot of them. But for some it's fine, and as Cryptic makes enemy groups with more varied CC powers, space encounters that require more mobility, specializations that encourage movement, and so on, it's generally a lot easier to just fly a beam boat. Fire at Will is still generally better than the equivalent cannon skills as well, and the intel power Surgical Strikes is weapon type agnostic anyway.
