Fun matches tonight, last match had a crazy comeback game with Al Borland and Grithok.

We were about 3 dead Zeon guys away from losing :smug:

The new New York configuration is fast paced with lots of points to go around, I like it.

Holding one of the tunnels as the last survivor of a group by bombarding the EFSF with bazooka shots while spamming SIEG ZEON! is even better, though.

Hiding behind rubble in the city with the Gouf Custom is great though, with less people on the surface, it seems alot easier to sneak up on everyone.

Game is like the best parts of Hawken, with bad balance but a addictive fun overlay and a very gundam vibe.
The maps are large and the best moment is it mixes the key parts of Alterac Valley in WOW 1.8, with a good metagame.

TLDR: Go download gundam game. Well worth the price of bad games VPN admission.

I'm not sure if I like what's happened with the pixie becoming the new Feddie overpowered win machine or not. On one hand it's basically useless in anything but melee, unlike the alex which was just good at everything pre-nerf. On the other, iv'e seen just one of them leap into a group of people and one-shot kill them all in one slash because dual beam sabers and wide swings :smith: However, they're also pretty useless in the big picture of things. Sure they're getting kills, but they're usually the kind of people who are only in it for that, they rarely go for deployables or even bases and have a hard time with that second one.

Is there any real counter to them? Iv'e tried shooting them in the face with bazookas and lasers while they're on approach, but it doesn't kill them fast enough.

V Well poo poo. I suppose they are. Also if you can predict their jumpy little lunge thing, shotguns seem to work well against them. Dodge the dash then shoot them in the back.

Pixies have a second attack on their sabers that shoot them upwards causing them to fly and making them for good rats.

Also getting kills lets the rest of your team move up.

They are helping just fine.

Nah the Pixie is kind of a piece of poo poo. The Fred Pixie on the other hand gets the upwards movement from boosting that our nacht gets, with an extra boost attack, and has lest consumption on those boosts. If you see a little dot flying across the map at mach speed you are seeing a Fred Pixie.

Nacht is arguably a better rat because of the stealth option. When it comes to hitting the actual base, the Fred Pixie comes out ahead though due to the third attack and higher innate boost capacity.

In other words, Nacht gets more consistent results as a rat while the Fred pays better if it gets in.

Reposting what the Nacht is capable of vs bases:

Note that the Fred can take all of these routes too.
Arctic base, Nacht can take the same rat route as a Fred pixie
Ifrit Nacht solos the arctic base, this video also shows off the huge damage(Higher than Kampfer even) you can pull off with melee cancels
Ifrit Nacht can hit walled bases like the Fred pixie
Ifrit Nacht DIII is just as fast as vanilla Ifrit DII.

More Nacht tricks, all possible with non-combat custom(Need level 2 boost reduction mod and level 2 faster attacks):
California base
Odessa Mines
Belfast, New York, and California base(Opposite side)
Torrington

For fun, Ifrit Nacht combat custom 5 vs Odessa mines

DIII is the rat sword, if you can do any of the above tricks successfully you can win games literally solo. The second swing of the boost attack for the DIII sword makes you move backwards and gain height(if you push the camera so that it looks down) like the Fred, if you do a 180-turn with the camera you can flip backwards (Just like the Fred) while moving forward. The second attack has a pretty big hitbox, so you've got a good chance of clipping anyone that's in your way while moving evasively.

Nacht is also very capable of getting big melee kill sprees:
D Type sword has a very generous hitbox with good power and speed on top
DIII requires finer control but is also capable

Silver Nacht gets access to all swords, if you want a strong melee suit for 300 cost consider picking one up.

In terms of effectiveness the Nacht isn't that far behind. In fact, its the number one suit the Feds are complaining about on the in-game forum (D sword hitbox, stealth base rat). The other two are Ifrit (Rental isn't too hard to access and is combat custom and DII, take off the other weapons load up melee modules) and Kampfer.

Yeah, against suits that only carry melee like the Fred/Striker GM/Nacht/Ifrit, staying in the air while shooting them with a shotgun(Use M Type, good ammo, rate of fire, and power) works well as long as you are circling them erratically. If they try jumping before attempting to slash you they risk getting knocked down since they are in the air. Its not completely foolproof though, if they get a hard read on you, they have a decent chance of clipping you out of the air. The key is to have enough boost capacity be in the air(The longer the better) before they are in melee range, if not you'll be cut down pretty easily. If you're not in the air before they initiate their attack you lose.

Actually, that's the answer to anything melee: Stay above, stay away, lock, circle, fire. Or pack a netgun / incendiary weapons

I wouldn't say the Fred pixie is impervious vs Melee either, I'd say the following suits/melee weapons have a good chance taking on the Fred Pixie, if it insists on a melee fight(You're not going to catch the A3 pixie if its running directly away from you)

Nacht D/DIII (DIII harder to land, but harder to get hit with as well)
Ifrit T/DII (DII harder to land, but harder to get hit with as well)
Ifrit Custom O/N/T
Zaku II Kai Fully charged heat hawk (One chance only, but the reach is good)
GP02 Fully charged saber (One chance only, but the reach is very good)
HMT Dom D/DII
Dom Tropen D
Gyan EOS D
Any Gelgoog assault variant with D Naginata

Know your spacing, be the first one to strike when in range. Baiting then punishing is also possible.

Exactly. The only gimmick gold feds use the vanilla Pixie for is the dual SMGs, which basically plays like a poor man's Gundam unit 5. Also, it's only the gold fred pixie that gets the 3 boost attack A3 dagger, so it's a little less accessible than doing Nacht DIII stealth base attacks. You could argue Ifrit/Nacht GP Gashacon is better value than Pixie/Fred Pixie GP Gashacon since the pixies are only good as gold.

Saw all sorts of games tonight, win or lose I still had fun. The Sortie event ends tomorrow 12:00PM Japan time, so you have about half of Tuesday if you want more event points.

Next Week's event is a good chance to make GP:

You can get items that sell for lots of GP at the end of battles. Always use the bonus item boost this week to make the most of it.

GP Denominations for the items are:
Box of Gold: 10,000GP
Vase: 30,000GP
Ghiren's Bust: 50,000GP

Also, The Agg's drill is a legit melee weapon. Partially because the suit can't be knocked down.

Zeon wins the last war of 2014 and the first war of 2015. That makes the total score 45-15, Zeon's favour.

Sortie event ends with server shutdown and the new GP event will be up.

EOS is by no means top tier but its got interesting options to make it viable in gold play. BR H and late type bazooka F are the ways to go if you want a ranged option yeah. The suit is at its strongest in melee though in my experience. That said the beam gun has a good rate of fire despite being a semi-auto if you mash it.

I run bayo D and the shield only since its combat custom. I used to not run the shield for bonus boost but its quite useful for charging your way in since the suit has modest armour.

E: The conventional timed crackers on this suit have good power and a blast comparable with sturm fausts. They might be worth running if you use the long throw module. Relatively light-weight too.
E2: D Bayonet has a high potential, as long as you make good use of closed spaces and blindspots.

I've had most success with a melee only loadout too. Maybe I'll just stick to that.

On another note, I'm wondering what mobile suits I should acquire to make myself more well rounded so I can be useful in a variety of situations. Right now I rely on my Nacht too much and feel very limited on just doing melee all the time. A lot of situations in the matches I'm in make me feel that if I didn't have a melee focused suit I could make a larger impact on the match.

I suppose to start things off I should just aim for top tier Assaults and Heavies?
I also have 5300 BC if that means anything in regards to using the DX Gacha to obtaining anything good.

Yeah, don't go melee heavy if a map is mostly fighting in open spaces. If you have the GP, try out the following suits before committing BC to DX tickets. They are strong even in silver.

Good ranged focused heavy suits for prolonged shootouts in the GP Gashacon in descending cost:

340-Act Zaku (Charge beam F, enhanced B3 power and projectile speed, heavy with most mobility in the game, range or beam shooter trait preferred)
320-Gelgoog Cannon (Beam Cannon F, Guided Missiles, enhanced B3 power and projectile speed, if you like this the Johnny Ridden variant is even better for 20 more cost)
300-Gelgoog Heavy(Charge Beam F, good quality bazookas)
260-Juagg (Charge beam F, rocket launcher hands, all insta-switch, can function as a shelling style unit if you run the howitzer prediction module)
220-Zaku Marine(Torpedo launcher)

Anything with a charged beam F or beam cannon F is a good anti-air weapon, nice to take out those GLAs and Gundams that like to hang in the air and fire.

Charged bazooka specialist heavies aren't listed here because they aren't as good on open maps as the guys listed above, charged bazookas are best used in closed spaces (ie. Jaburo tunnels, Texas Colony, New York underground)

Assaults with guns that aren't terrible at mid range fighting in open spaces:

Any assault with FA or FAF beam rifle(HMT or HMT VG Gelgoog/Mallet Act or Gold Galbady Alpha/ProtoGelgoog). FA is easier to control and has better range for slightly less burst damage, run level 2 of the shooting assist module to make these weapons viable mid range(Tab 3, last page gun icon).
Gouf Custom Gatling Shield
Generally, Assaults with good mid range guns are 320+ cost like the above.
If you're on a budget deck cost wise, Zaku suits with Magella guns and missiles are decent: (Desert, IIF, IIS, IIFS, IIF2 Kinbareid)

Last night Goon platoon had a pretty funny game:

The Kampfer is a good suit for nuke running.

Feds couldn't take him out quickly enough, nuke successful.

The Feds buy their own nuke to try make a comeback.

GLA's have good speed and boost capacity, they make good nuke runners.

Fred Pixies are fast too right

He picks the route with the most Zeon in his way... Is the Fred Pixie a fast suit without the daggers? :downs:

Turns back after literally facing half the Zeon team.

Charged beam.

Fred Pixie on its back in the water vs Al Borland's Zaku Marine

Ifrit.

Ok that didn't work. Let's buy another nuke and try again :)

No need to back me up or make a screen for me guys, I've got this

I make it to the base all the time with my daggers, shouldn't be too different if I'm holding a nuke right

Not pictured: Shortly before dying, he put down the nuke and pulled out the daggers, trying to take on 6 of us when surrounded

Game is nearing the end, Kampfer runs another nuke, with a Nacht as escort.

GunTank notices neither of them.

Feds find him literally at the base's doorstep.

Best match ever, would watch the replay again.
