Save-and-quits are disallowed in A Link to the Past for similar reasons, but they aren't in Ocarina of Time. It just varies from game to game.

Savewarping is disallowed in Glitchless OoT apparently, which is weird. Deathwarping is cool though. It's some historical rule from Japanese runners that was adopted by the rest of the running community probably to avoid fracturing the runner base more than OoT's already gargantuan category list does.
I think in general Savewarping is disallowed again for historical reasons, to ensure single-segment runs are actually single-segment for SDA.

How come the dungeons are significantly different in color? The dungeon was blue on the left and purple on the right.

Edit: All the blues seem to be purple on the right screen apparently.

Zelda 1 is a really loving hard game to speed run.

e: To clarify, it has a ton of randomness with drops, every little resource is extremely valuable, some resources only drop under certain conditions and need to be monitored carefully, enemies have tricky behavior and are very strong, and the route skips a lot of valuable items that you're expected to have, and on top of all of that it's just not an easy game in general.

Yeah I never finished it as a kid (because I never could find the last dungeons), all the unintentional damage just threw me

NES RGB boards have a thing where you can choose how it approximates palletes. It was really evident in the Contra race. In the Battletoads run the runners kept being surprised by the color of things. This kind of setup also outputs the best quality for recording.

For this and more RGB NES sperging, stop by the retro gaming thread.

e: VVVVV 108. One guy donated $20 per death, the runner did $10 per death.

109, actually, because right before he quit the game he did it one more time for kicks.

The runner and two people from the couch were donating a total of $35 per death, so between the three of them they coughed up $3,815 for PCF.
