What makes them smug? Duckfist is prob like in my top 3 of cool dudes I'd want to grab a beer with at AGDQ.

(#1 is RWhiteGoose of course)

Whenever the banner flips between ads or whatever, there's a change it causes a hitch in the stream. Real annoying.

Could someone explain to me AGDQ's obsession with Super Metroid? I have heard that it's a good game for speedrunning, but centering the entire event(At least the donation system) around it every time seems really weird to me, especially since at this point all runs of it feel very similiar to each other(as a spectator), and it mostly comes down to small mistakes/lucky frame hits.

Super Metroid is one of the classic speed running games, pretty much the entire speed running community loves it and it's super popular. Save/Kill the Animals has been an ongoing running joke for the last several years because it's very popular with the viewers as well.

The games are pretty much made for speed running (recording your time and items found at the end) so I imagine people like to run it. It's also a GDQ tradition at this point, with the Save/Kill the Animals thing probably being the biggest bid war of the whole marathon.

That run was absolutely one of the high points of SGDQ, mostly because of Goose's completely unironic cheerleading.

It was a fluke of save/kill the animals taking off. I'm sure it would be there every year regardless, but it's become a tremendous money maker.

Ah, I see. I just found it strange, as it seems to me at this point the most time-efficient way to do each area has pretty much been found, so I find watching it kinda boring since every run is so similiar to each other. Ah well, if people enjoy it I can't blame them.

Edit: How long does it usually take from a new game is released until it's being run on AGDQ?

Not every run has to be new every marathon. I really enjoy stuff like Super Metroid or Mario 3 every time.
