Just speculating here, but with m43 size is a big factor, and a charging circuit takes up space and generates heat that might be tough to dissipate.

I really appreciate them, not least because this one came in when I was only 10mins away from the shop. Unfortunately, the only thing they had was a crappy 'generic' charger that may or may not have worked with my battery and cost a ridiculous £25.99. Not paying that much, when I can get a charger plus an entire extra battery for £11 from Amazon. PS the British museum is an embarrassing ripoff. spog fucked around with this message at 20:03 on Jan 5, 2015 |

Otherwise the ordinary galleries are pretty good from what I remember. I only made it out there once in the 6 years I lived in London. Science and Natural History museums I went to several times though, they are excellent.

Bringing up the 'adobe raw support for x-trans sensor is poo poo', I actually did notice images weren't as sharp as I'd expected pulling them through camera raw 8.7.1 and kicking around in Photoshop. What are our other options? I'd still like to use Photoshop for editing purposes, but is there an optimized raw converter that can sync with Photoshop?

I haven't tried his plugins yet, though. Poking around that guy's site, he looks to have a few Fuji tips that seem useful. For a while I've been disappointed with my photos coming out of Lightroom. Fine for Facebook and ok for Flickr but not quite as nice as I was expecting, especially when looking closer. For me, the shots from the 14mm were the most disappointing, enough that I thought maybe I had a bad copy or I just wasn't using it properly. Blaming myself or gear, I kinda forgot that Adobe has trouble with the X-Trans sensor. Looks like it's time to do some experiments. I'll start with that guy's Lightroom/Photoshop process first, because it's free, and then look into something like Capture One. Now that I think about it, poor Adobe output may have been at least partially responsible for my recent photographic slump. Sometimes it gets discouraging to come back from an outing and be all like, "oh this is going to be sweet!" and then when browsing through Lightroom: E: On Thomas's blog, he also wrote this: http://blog.thomasfitzgeraldphotography.com/blog/2014/9/choosing-a-raw-processor-for-fuji-x-trans-files Which may provide some food for thought and he doesn't waste time judging icons and status bar backgrounds. All this talk about x-Trans RAW conversion headaches reminds me of a big reason why I stuck with m4/3: I want to keep using DxO, the only software I actually kind of "get", and it will never support x-Trans.

While we're talking about Fuji, the weather-sealed 16-55mm f/2.8 has been announced and will be released in February for a rather steep $1200. http://www.fujifilm.com/news/n150106.html http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1110879-REG/fujifilm_xf_16_55mm_f_2_8_r.html quote:Fujifilm launches the FUJINON XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR I'll probably sell my 14mm to help pay for this since there were very few situations where I felt I really needed that extra width. Whereas having that focal length range at such a large aperture is a lot more useful for me. And while there are plenty of people moaning about the lack of OIS (in addition to it's price, size, and weight), I don't mind since I used to run around with a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 attached to my NEX-5 and that didn't any IS and I fared just fine without it. Also, the Fuji zoom is roughly the same size and weight as my Tamron zoom and adapter so I'm already used to using massive lenses on small cameras. Actually, the Fuji is better packaged as it is completely cylindrical whereas the lens adapter I use with the Tamron has a bulge that protrudes outwards making it awkward to hold. It also didn't help that the NEX-5 is somewhat dwarfed by the lens and adapter while my X-T1 is bigger and I have the large handgrip for it. However, I'm going to need a new set of polarizer, ND filters, and adapters if I wish to use them on the new zoom at all focal lengths. At least 77mm filters don't cost so much more than 67mm filters. Then again, I could wait a bit to see what the upcoming 90mm and the super telephoto zoom lens uses so I don't have to rebuild my collection to use them. Still, it's not like I use filters all that often and I don't think I'll buy those lenses but I still like to make sure.

Its going to be very interesting because now Fuji has constant aperture zooms in the same range as nikon and canon. I imagine they'll start making real headway into wedding and portrait photography.
