And this game was worse in the past with its awful checkpoints.

I just tuned back in. Is Mega Man Unlimited a rom hack or something? I thought that was the name of that thing from a couple years ago where you could make and share your own Megaman levels that got aborted for some reason.

I might be wrong but I think the Megaman X games and beyond started trying to have real stories beyond "Wily makes robots to be bad", and that's where most of the terrible fan stories came from. The stories are still terrible but in a way that appeals to nerds with bad taste I guess.
