I would have liked to see them hold onto a little more of the coloration (which I think works better with her hair and power effects) and possibly the bare shoulders and glove flair from her Jim Lee suit. I think it's originally an X-Force costume, so the lack of color is part of the theme.

That second costume isn't any less hysterical now than the day it premiered. "Cleavage is offensive! Just circle one of her nipples instead!"

Powergirls's costume is unfortunate because apart from the cupcake problem I think it actually has some good color choice and styling (mostly I think the half-cape and cuffed gloves are good/interesting and the contouring/quilting on the plain costume works pretty well to make a plain white outfit more interesting on the page). But those redos basically trade closing the boobhole for overall ugly designs. I don't know why they decided they needed to stick a P on her somewhere, she's never had one and trying to mash it into her chest/bib is just clumsy. And swapping a fairly trademark cape for a more boring design seems like a bad choice. A decent redesign shouldn't be that hard, it's not like there aren't better ideas out there: That's just off the front page of google and there's probably four more that are more interesting than what they went with.

Inkspot posted:That second costume isn't any less hysterical now than the day it premiered. How long until they give it to some artist who decides to make absolutely *certain* you know it's a nipple by erecting it? See: Phyla-Vell/Quasar in the GotG/Annihilation event . (I want to say Annihilation: Conquest - Quasar, but I don't have it handy to verify.) It was a little off-putting, considering I'd not noticed anything similar all through the previous and subsequent books I'd read with Phyla-Vell. Just, "OH HAY NIPPLE HERE!" - also considering he didn't give the same "attention" to Moondragon, as well.

I sort of agree with you; in-character I think she should just own it as part of her confident, assertive personality instead that mewling "woe is me I don't have my own identity" crap. Context can make a big difference.

I'd settle for her going "Because just look at me." just once. Her or any other similarly dressed, non-armor dependent, non-villain, really since even good people can have a little narcissism now and then. I suppose Starfire already did that a few time though.
