Surely they could have prepared for things like this a little better.

I mean having some issues is understandable but it has gotten a bit silly now.

There's some heavy amount of RNG you need to account for when trying that trick. It's not a marathon safe strat.

Just the sound, because it was very important that the people at home hear the "bloof blurf" effect when you gave someone a burger that was apparently pulled from the king's rear end.

You would think they would have a separate station to test hardware while another run is going on prior to their actual use. Time to start speed running hardware setup.

At some point they have to just do a 3-way race here, or a 4-way race with one of the screens not streamed.

e: or just get it working, finally.

You must have not been high enough level, it takes about 3/4th hp at the right level. Also SotN is so goddamn broken.

Well, sure, but it's a charity marathon run by a bunch of volunteers using a wildly mismatching set of jury rigged electronics to record 20-year-old gaming consoles that have been shipped over half a continent. poo poo will break.

I agree that ideally they'd have several sets of identical, relatively new hardware and back-up systems for each platform. However, they don't. If you want to spend $20k or so and a week of construction time on setting that up next year I'm sure it would be much appreciated.

Got pulled out of bed to come fix.

Problem was finally traced to a $5 video cable.

Outside of OoT, I don't think there's another game where the speedrun route changes so fundamentally every time it's featured in the marathons.

Of course poo poo will break but they could have it break before the runs watched by up to over a hundred thousand people are supposed to already be happening.

Eh, didn't want it to be misconstrued as me getting mad at the people for waking me up, since it still took me a few minutes to figure it out even after I got down there.

And that cable had been used less than 24 hours prior for the MMX race so it's pretty weird that it went bad in that time.
