I should also note: both "Doonesbury" and "Broom Hilda" began the same year: 1970. So take that for what you will. So, by newspaper standards it's not -that- old.

Yeah it was posted, and I don't really like that they use "The world" there, since it implies that muslims are not part of the world. Additionally, from looking at papers and news all over, it seems people are trying very hard to get the distinction between Islamic extremists and regular muslims out. It's a shame that this is a distinction that has to be pointed out, but it seems a lot of media, and people, are at least trying.

The red of that flag represents the blood spilled during the revolution right? I can't tell if he knew that or didn't know that when he drew this. I mean, if he did, it matches what a (deeply prejudiced) French guy told me about what he believes with be an Islamic overthrow of the government. edit: I'm surprised "lack of assimilation" is there though. As much as he's a hack and labels like crazy, cartoons like this: More accurately display what happened than ones like this (or similar where a terrorist caricature is being erased): Pretty much in no way were the cartoonists triumphant in this one, so maybe I'm just not understanding the portrayals.
