I've never played a *souls game and all i'm getting from this run is if a little man 1/20th my size runs up to me and starts punching me in my ankles and I don't run away I'll be dead in 1 minute.

If only ranged weapons weren't insanely bad for str, which is needed for the correct ways to play, which is caestus or UGS

Your Computer posted:Counterpoint: They're good. The bow mechanics are still lovely and not fun to use. The Guardian dragon is still a lovely boss fight and using bows in it will probably just make the fight go slower.

Sir Tonk posted:Whatever, the devs were awesome for this run. Totally worth listening to. You might be right about this and I might add that you're better off treating the run like a podcast and not a speedrun. I just remember doing my laundry while that was going on and every time I looked at the screen all the gameplay and design in every level was nearly indistinguishable from the one before it. Add to that it was 3 hours long and baaaaaaaaaaaaarf

This run reminds me just how unfinished some parts of Dark Souls 2 look. Some areas are gorgeous, like the starting town, parts of the dragon aerie, etc, and other areas literally look like they were pushed out half-finished, unlit and without a final texture pass. Just jack up the ambient lighting, scrap the shadowmaps and ship it. A lot of Brightstone Cove is just downright fugly, far worse than anything in the original Dark Souls. Fingers crossed that the HD re-release later this year cleans that stuff up. A lot of the ugliest areas showed up in pre-release trailers looking much nicer.

Is the FFVII run going to be a textbox-fest or watchable? I don't have much nostalgia for the game and wondering if it's worth staying up for.

Would I be right in thinking the PCF focuses on detection of cancer and its causes? As opposed to treatment/cure research as many donation comments imply?
