Went to store champs today as well. Took a completely untested & un-flown list like I normally do Lando Calrissian (44) Veteran Instincts (1) Jan Ors (2) Nien Nunb (1) Dash Rendar (36) Veteran Instincts (1) Heavy Laser Cannon (7) Recon Specialist (3) Outrider (5) Total: 100 Dash pretty much had TL, focus & evade tokens every turn which made him pretty drat deadly. Every opponent had falconphobia and focussed on Lando despite it not being the big damage dealer in my list. Highlights included oneshotting Howlrunner on turn one vs an Whisper/mini swarm list, flying dash off the board by 1mm and later keeping Lando on the board by 1mm . Went 3-2 for the day, ended in 9th place which wasn't too bad. Got my Soontir card, a consolation prize for 9th of a large ship acrylic template and got bonus acrylic asteroids for pre-registering for the day.

Want that alt art Soontir so bad, but the FLGS never sent out any emails about the tickets going on sale so they'd run out in the five days between when I last checked and yesterday.

zVxTeflon posted:Theres a bunch of store champ events around here. Hit me up at the end of Feb if you havent gotten one by then and ill toss you my extra Oh, drat, thanks. Unfortunately, I'm in the UK and there's only one FLGS in London that was running the store championships. The next closest one is two hours away and they've also sold out, so looks like that's it for my chances to get alt art Soontir myself. I'll happily cover the shipping plus whatever the ticket cost you if you do that. e; in other news, I think this is the list I'm going to practice with for now: Soontir Fel (27) Push the Limit (3) Stealth Device (3) Krassis Trelix (36) Heavy Laser Cannon (7) Omicron Group Pilot (21) Darth Vader (3) Total: 100 The idea is that no matter what target the enemy goes after, they're ignoring two other dangerous ships. If they shoot Soontir, I just play it defensive on him while the HLC and Doomshuttle do their thing, if they go for the Firespray the shuttle can manoeuvre and Soontir can go on the offensive, etc. I could drop Krassis for a BH with HLC or just a naked BH, but I don't know what I'd do with the extra points (autothrusters on Fel and get the initiative, maybe). The weakest individual item in that list is the Doomshuttle, but it's so cheap that I can't really find anything to replace it with. I tried dropping it for two Academies but that didn't work out at all. Lemon-Lime fucked around with this message at 13:25 on Jan 11, 2015 |

I'm sad our store champs don't start happening until last week of January but after that there's a parade of them every week until March 14. Can't complain though cuz the monthly tournament at one of the better stores here is starting in an hour.

Guys.... I have a problem. I want to run this list. Corran Horn (35) R2-D2 (4) Fire Control System (2) Marksmanship (3) Shield Upgrade (4) Advanced Proton Torpedoes (6) Etahn A'baht (32) Fire Control System (2) Marksmanship (3) Shield Upgrade (4) Ion Torpedoes (5) Total: 100 points. The allure of a drat near guaranteed 2+ crits every attack appeals to me, and the idea of a single round at range 1 where two ships unload 13 supernaturally accurate dice into some poor fucker is addicting. FCS+Marksmanship+Etahn manages to be the only instance I've ever seen where using a TL to reroll a hit is a good idea, because you're nearly as likely to roll into another crit as you are back to the same hit. Keep crits, keep one/two focuses, reroll any hits beyond the first and you can get three crits on three dice an absolutely appalling number of times. Trying it out six times on a standing still Decimator (just the dice, shot from Corran/shot from Etahn/Corran with APT) never yielded less than 13 hits and never less than 7 crits. On two occasions it blew the Decimator out of space entirely in one turn. I wish it weren't so drat fragile, but man I want to run this somewhere.

D doesn't seem to be too bad (), since it is 'May', you have up to 5 possible 'k-turns', it's quite crazy. A doesn't seem very useful though.

Haha wow the 88D has a built-in gunner. I'm thinking that and C with HLC, the uplink ability, and a cheap Z. That and my old Fat Han will probably be good choices for the next year.

Just realised that Ten Numb with Mangler Cannon will be pretty sweet, pretty much means that you always do at least one damage that can't be cancelled, if not more damage (although, of course, only one cannot be cancelled).

Put VI in there and you give any Soontir player a massive headache, and you have a decent phantom hunter in the bargain as well. Was wondering also where the YT-2400 stands now. With 45 points you can get Dash with Outrider/Mangler, for a PS 7 ship that can ignore asteroids/debris fields (more or less), has 3 less hull than a YT-1300, but can do 3 sharp turns and has one more green die, compared to the 42 points for a blank Chewie. Guess it depends on your tastes from then on.

I'm probably ~$100-120 deep into X-wing, and have a decent collection. That'd be enough to barely field 2 units of stormtroopers with a command squad, which is one of the smallest legal armies out there for 40k.
