I really hope Hasbro fixes the Platinum pricing because apparently Year of the Goat Optimus in all his reddish brown plastic and clear plastic glory may just run a smidge cheaper than a Titan class figure.

Yeah it's a cool mold but Optimus has never been that color in anything ever, it's not a reference to another figure past or present(i.e. like Roadbuster Magnus), and it's not that big either. It's not something where one should pay Megabux for with MSRP.

Yeah, vehicle mode, pretty much both front and back. I see where they should peg in, but they don't quite reach without forcing it. I'm sure the problem is me not having her shoulders uhh "arranged" correctly, but I've wasted like an hour on this bullshit.

I mean yeah the posters here are good and the people are good and so on but I ultimately think it leads back to not being ... quite so as the other TF junctions are.

I think we generally maintain a pretty good balance. We don't go apeshit trashing things ("Hasblow" type poo poo), but at the same time we don't lose our minds if someone has something not 100% positive to say about a figure ("You think this $200 Masterpiece figure that Hasbro has kindly chosen to bestow upon us should have [something you would find a $15 toy]??!! Well I guess HATERS GONNA HATE" - TFW2005)

What I'm saying is that we're perfect. Each and every one of us.

I dunno I just don't believe in that weird pan-internet attitude of "well *I'm* pretty perfect and have nothing to learn". Ornery is a good way to describe me in my more obnoxious moments, but that doesn't mean I'm going to revel in it.

And of course I don't think echo chambers of positivity are great, I just think that most fandoms are so negative and lovely. Our pointless bickering (especially when it gets personal) are just TFW bullshit with better spelling and grammar. That's the kind of thing I don't love. All the well-reasoned opinions, helping each other get robots/solve problems, sense of humor, general consensus about the good parts of the fiction, etc., that's what makes this thread a cut above. IMO, of course.

I took my kid to the park today, and there was a 5-year-old boy there who kept yammering about transformers (no I didn't bring it up first), and he laid down some wisdom. "If you want to be a transformer, that dream that your heart makes will never come true". Well said, kid at the playground.

Why do people even like "review" videos anyway? How have they even become such a staple? Why do they even exist in our ecosystem? Are there that many people for whom $15 is such a huge investment that they won't drop it based solely on pictures/written word, but need to invest time in watching some guy manhandle and wheeze over the toy for a while? If it's for the cray-expensive 3rd party stuff I can allllmost understand it...but again, seems like the endless written reviews and photos that pop up would be more than adequate.

Gotta hand it to them, though. Some of these guys have managed to find a way to score endless free toys for the brutal, arduous task of awkwardly transforming a transformer on video and making awkward jokes here and there. People actually spend their own money to send these guys toys. Brilliant scam, really. Hats off.

It's the same with video games. Seeing it in motion and being manipulated on camera gives a much better idea of the toy's actual quality.

It's not just $15 when you consider that they're part of a wave, and roughly twenty waves of 4 dudes at $15 gets expensive. especially when you add another line at $15, and then another at $22-25, and a few $50 outliers. And even then, it's nice to see the gimmicks in motion, to see if punching that kid for a BW 2-pack was worth it in '95. :argh:

Also take in consideration the more expensive MP and 3P figures that people would want to get a look at before they put big money down. That's why a lot of those reviews in video or text often times have a lot more views over time.

Usually the $15 figures people already know they are going to get them but still want an early look at what they are. Those ones, especially, get hits early but taper off over time.
