aren't you not allowed to score directly from a throw?

Cpt. Mahatma Gandhi posted:aren't you not allowed to score directly from a throw? I thought so too, but after searching Google for like 10 minutes (probably not enough), directly means untouched. At least that's what most posts say. Edit: Of course I am an American Fan, and a lot of the videos I could find with similar situations were American High School games, so it could be totally wrong.

Yeah that's an own goal, if the keeper let it go in I thinks that's a goal kick

Stupid American Question: Why aren't throw-ins like that used more often in professional games? My assumption has always been because its banned at that level, but I'm all about getting the real answer.

Because any defence above high school level given time to prepare will know how to deal with a 40 yard long ball, and also it's loving retarded like the the flying V being used in the NHL.

MacheteZombie posted:Stupid American Question: Why aren't throw-ins like that used more often in professional games? It's not banned as far as I know, but players don't do it at professional level because you're more likely to injure yourself than you are to gain any actual advantage. At almost any decent level a player (a brave player, someone will find the video) will stand in front of the thrower to put him off anyway.
