Beast of Bourbon posted:also it's so weird that they have high def footage from 'security cameras' and other places that would be impossible to get to without hours of set up virtually everywhere they go, including all the places that their tour guide, who is 'not in on it' leads them to. in that shows case you can hear (i assume) a producer say "oh, we're actually gonna go meet up with this guy at his apartment" instead of stay at x hotel or whatever in some cases, and while that could obviously be set up very easily but i dont see how that would be incredibly complicated to do without having the host know about it. you would get a second camera crew over to the location first while another follows the host and then have someone call the producer when they're ready or something i guess an idiot abroad uses a ton of archive footage anyway, its in the credits and obviously the budget wouldnt allow for some of the shots (like having a helicopter tail an airplane etc). i would assume similar shows do the same i'm completely willing to accept that its all set up in advance though. its just comparitively well done compared to something like the bachelor

Christopher Lee Cornell -- also known as Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah -- was arrested by the FBI for the attempted killing of a U.S. government officer and for possession of a firearm in furtherance of attempted crime of violence. hmm

ricky gervais isn't funny but he definitely is good at his job at convincing people he's funny i never understood the appeal of an idiot abroad anyway, what's funny or interesting about "boring man goes to different places, complains the whole time" michael palin actually wanted to be in the places he went

None of what that guy goes to see is actually interesting at all on a cultural level, it's 100% a show designed to gently caress him over abroad

and to be clear ricky gervais, stephen merchant, and karl pilkington are good at making money from tv shows, shows that are often well produced. that's what they do

yeah i understand the concept, it's not funny or interesting it has the shape and mannerisms of something funny or interesting which is apparently enough to fool people, hence ricky gervais' career

infernal machines posted:is that where that comes from? they just do it that way on reality tv so the camera can hear both sides of the conversation. people not on reality tv do it to imitate their pop culture idols. if kim kardashian uses her phone this way, it must be cool. i doubt the celebrities would have ever started doing it if they didn't have to for the show, but then again people also use their iphones as boom boxes on the subway, so who knows Sagebrush fucked around with this message at 02:49 on Jan 15, 2015 |
