The other three are definitely legit, they were also provided as assets to the press. It's just the two that deal with Rotten/Raime that seem to have no traceable origin.

Is there a problem with Lucatiel in that iron keep bossfight? I summoned her for it but she never entered the arena, that I could see anyway. What is going on?

Genocyber

I figure the first sin refers to what the Witch of Izalith did, since the only mention of sin I can think of aside from Velka (who otherwise would have nothing to do with this game) is the Lost Sinner, who is the WoI equivalent. That + the scholar being a giant flaming tree man much like the Bed of Chaos.

That can happen anywhere, because the AI kinda sucks. Sorry if it does. I've had her not enter the fight in No Man's Warf before, and Iron Keep too I think.

It helps to make sure all the enemies are cleared before you summon, and make sure they walk over to you before you go through the fog wall, but no guarantees.

I had her get completely lost in the No Man's Wharf fight (I forgot about ringing the bell to bring the ship in, ran back to do it, and her AI could never catch up when I fought Flexile, which I did because I pulled a human phantom into the fight to help them restore humanity). I then proceeded to have her accidentally get killed right at the end of the Smelter fight after completing Sinner and The Rotten. I still completed her quest. So it definitely seems like it didn't count her not being in the Flexile room against my count of 3.

I always babysit her in the wharf because I've found if I don't she'll often walk right off the pier and die. The AI is really bad.

My non iron ball guess is that it probably refers to giving humans life, which is the cause of the unending cycle of misery, and the chaos of the abyss. After all, the cursed undead in this game are still carrying Dark Signs. The idea of life being the first sin is echoed with "The Curse of Life is the Curse of Want" that's repeated throughout the game.

I think that the chaos flame is a good bet as well.

WASD for movement, naturally. Left/Right click for right hand weapon. LShift/Tab for left hand weapon. E to use items. Q for talking/interacting with things. Mouse wheels for cycling through items and spells. Space for running, jumping and rolling. O for targeting. I'm pretty sure T or U was used for gestures. Those are all of the important ones I can remember off the top of my head. I know that using a controller is a better option but I never could be bothered to buy one. Using mouse+keyboard is hardly a major downgrade, though. I've beaten both games without any major issues.

Tab, Q: Left hand strong, quick attacks
E, R: Right hand quick, strong attacks
Left Click: Cycle LHS weapons
Right Click: Cycle RHS weapons

I think everything else is default. F to jump, G to use item.

And yeah I've played exclusively with KB+M and done just fine. It's the main thing keeping me from playing DS1.

Can I get some advice for dealing with casters in the Blood Bros. arena bridge map? I'm playing melee only (I guess I could toss on the +2 attunement slots ring for some pyro if necessary) and I'm finding it basically impossible to get hits in on casters. Like the first thing they do is Unleash Magic, then pop a Homing Crystal Soul Mass, then dump a Soul Vortex down the bridge pathway, and start spamming Crystal Soul Spears with insane cast speeds. I dunno if my timing is just bad or what, but I'm not able to dodge fast enough to avoid everything, and if I get clipped even once it's basically over.

I starting bringing along a 100% magic block shield, but trying to block it all is just as bad since I just get guard broken. Is there a good way to punish this type of build? I'm wondering if I can just sit back on the other side of the bridge and shoot poison arrows at them or something, but I dunno. I'm kind of disappointed with strength weapons in pvp in general. I'm using the Mastodon Halberd right now after trying out a few other weapons, and while there are some really fun weapons (Great Club, Dual Caestus, etc.) they are mostly useless against experienced players. Mastodon Halberd's two-handed running R1 catches people off guard fairly often, but not having a good horizontal sweep (especially 1-handed) really hurts.

Kind of wish there were other ways to get Cracked Red Eyes in NG at this point, but eh.

I just hope the SotLS version fixes the constant momentary freezes DS2 has had for me for the last couple months. I've basically had to give up PvP and accept invasions as a death sentence, because I'll frequently come out of a freeze to find myself being backstabbed, and there's a ~25% chance my attacks will fail to happen because I hit the button while the game is locked up.

Yup, boost a stat at the expense of all others. Obviously if you're playing pure sorcery you want to use a Magic Staff. Try Sorcerer's -> Witchtree -> Wisdom throughout the game. If you want to dabble in hexes, try Olenford's Staff for a perfect split between magic and dark.

Rapier is a great choice; you can really tear through bosses, especially if you infuse, enchant it, and wear the Leo Ring.

Ok, i will try this.
By enchant you mean infuse with magic or infuse with enchanted?
EDIT: guess you meant use magic weapon on it, sorry.

On that note, what about Ricards Rapier? Says it does lots of hits, which usually goes well with on-hit effects like addditional magi damage from the spell.
Has less Magic base when infused, but appearently lots of more strikes to compensate.

Yeah, enchant = weapon buffs. Never use the Enchanted weapon upgrade cause it sucks.

I think Ricard's Rapier works differently now from DS1; instead of adding the full enchantment damage on every stab, it reduces the bonus on each hit to be in-line with the physical component of the damage calculation. Also, it breaks REALLY quickly. I'd recommend just the plain Rapier, or the Blue Flame later on.

I've had a DEX character with a bunch of different thrusting swords upgraded, and Ricard's is fun to use, but the speed at which I burnt through its dura whenever I use the multi-poke attack kinda forced me to only bring it out for boss fights. Just stick with a regular Rapier, or Espada Ropera if you intend to get some more DEX.

Ill trust you guys and go with the basic Rapier, it also has higher base magic damage which means that the magic buff should scale better.

The smelter demon there is an optional side boss. Have you fought the main boss of the area yet? It was the hardest fight in the game for me and also my favorite. That boss strikes the perfect note of completely manageable bullshit.

Genocyber posted:

I don't get why people keep saying "dick people over," either. You could do that in Des, and kind of in Dks, but there's really no way to do that here. With the prevalence of bonfires there are very few places where someone who's killed has to walk far to recover their bloodstain, especially since most people just wait at the bonfire. And that's not even taking into account the fact that everyone uses a soul protect ring.

By dick people over, I think they mean "make people not have fun playing the game". I don't have fun when I get invaded. Either I'm stomping the PvE content and feeling good about myself, then I suddenly die, or I'm struggling and get frustrated and now I'm pissed that some rear end in a top hat killed me when I had a shot of getting through and I have to do it all over again. PvP plays very differently from PvE and not only that, unlike coop, it's strongly affected by lag. I live in China. That means that on the few occasions I have attempted PvP, it's some kind of surreal experience where what is happening on my screen has no relationship with the damage I take from my opponent.

Do you like badly designed, forced stealth sequences? How about poorly though out escort quests with bad AI? That's what PvP is to me in Dark Souls. Yes, you can burn a human effigy, and yes, you get way more than you'll ever need, so there's no reason not to, but I don't think the way to opt out of PvP should be tied to a consumable or should be something you have to do repeatedly. I'm fine with dealing with invasions if it means I get to do coop, but if I want to get out of doing PvP, I want to stay out until I decide to go back in. And I don't want to feel punished for doing so.

I'm afraid I can't help you, but why do you need a long bow anyway? The short bow is generally considered better and is available in Majula. The long bow will be purchasable later on. The bows you really want to use to deal damage are the dragonrider bow, the black bow or the bow of want. Of those, the dragonrider bow is available quite early, although it's only really useful for strength characters.

I would, it's probably the highest damaging regular bow. It's slower and eats more stamina but in term of pure damage numbers it's still better than other bows even without any notable INT investment. The Hunter's Black Bow is probably still better though, because it's considerably faster which results in higher DPS.
