Unf gently caress I want to play this game again what faction should I play!? From my cursory look at the pdf, stuff looks pretty similar. Not giant paradigm shifts from what I can see, but I am basing it on poor memory from taking several years off of the game. The n3 rulebook is so clean and nice :] I briefly played haqq and didnt like their light infantry playstyle. Nomads were fun, CA was pretty cool. Considering panO or yujing this time around, I barely played with HS models/rules and definitely did not ever play a sectorial. I think I might concentrate on orange china dudes.

Correct: factional identities are basically unchanged in N3, though the HI-focused factions/sectorials ought to function better thanks to the overall buffs to HI. If you can identify it, what did you dislike about Haqq's LI-focused style?

I'm not super great on what exactly has changed with Adriana, but here's what I'm noticing. - USAdriana got rangers with Infiltration and Tactical Bows. Most dangerous game motherfuckers. - 8 point Irmandihos. Comes stock with engineer, chain rifles, an AP CCW and a 20 CC! Hot drat. Gonna be a staple in a vanilla list. - Antipode Assault Packs are just 25 points for the handler and the pups! They also have that new Kinemati-whatever skill L2. What's the skinny on that? - Briscards, Cameronians, and all our HI is still overpriced and bad.

The skinny is camo isn't as good in some ways so all our camo models have been affected. CC is better and we have gotten lots of cc buffs. Shotguns and grenades are better and we have lots of access to those on the cheap and high phys. I think our HI is better but not necessarily good enough to take over standard stuff. Minutemen got the most comprehensive makeover and Moblot engineers could be a thing. This is discounting sectorials as we don't know the new rules yet. Mostly we got point reductions and cc buffs. All other HI are still are virtually the same sans the point reductions.

Its not as good in some ways, meaning that you no longer get a free shot against people when coming out of camo so you can't just trade your cheap guy for their expensive one anymore. However, the -3 to react against someone coming out of camo means your camo dudes are WAY more likely to live now. They're not disposable suicide bombers anymore but they might actually survive. I think it's overall better, not just for balance but for making Ariadna more interesting to play and to play against.

Yeah agreed, Spetsnaz are off the wall good I think. Like they're just so good at what they do that I can't see an Ariadna player not taking them (outside of sectorial AVA).

Now Domaru are stupid cheap and can get ridiculously high CC I am going to run a 5-man link (4 dudes + Oyama) all the time in JSA, and run around throwing EM grenades and hitting people with swords. Even if I lose every game it will be worth it for the one time Oyama cuts a Jotum in half with a crit or something. On a more serious note the Thorakitai discounts make Steel Phalanx look quite fun.

WAR FOOT posted:Until the updated rules come out, you can't use anything without N3 rules. Links, Viral, Sync, G: Jumper, etc. That's especially loving stupid considering they have said from the beginning this book wasn't replacing HS or CP and that those rules would continue to function as-is unless they decide to tweak them. Those rules ARE N3 rules. Now that we have point costs and profiles there's zero poo poo that doesn't "work" in N3. I'd like it if Jumper were made less complicated and better, and we need some clarification on how (if?) link teams interact with coordinated orders, but that's like 5 minutes of TO work rather than "eh, gently caress, just don't take it".

Isnt the format some crazy 100, 200, 300 then 400 pts escalation thing? Even if it wasnt in Canberra I think i'd give the whole thing a pass just for how stressful this whole lead up has been. Not to mention still having to get my head around a bunch of N3 rules.

In the utopian, hyper-advanced society of PanOceania you have nanotech factories that are either fully-automated or require years of extensive specialized education to handle (and you don't want to risk those people on a military mission), or you get techs that can swap replace modules and follow procedures but are helpless when it comes to actually fixing the bleeding-edge guts of their hardware. I said the above semi-jokingly, but I can definitely see corporations furthering the "fix nothing, replace everything, we're rich and prosperous" mindset to the extreme. At least Yu Jing officials can admit that life can suck, poo poo breaks down and when you absolutely need your gear in working condition you license an Aleph specialist
