Why is the character animation such rear end? Even in their trailer on Steam it just looks loving awful. If I was a game developer that would be the first thing I made sure was on point - it makes the game look amateurish and clunky.

SOE has, our had, some really great mocap technology 10 years ago. What happened to it?

Its better than Dayz was when they let people in, the crafting system is fun, the melee combat is fairly responsive. There are some aspects that are so entirely ahead of dayz its laughable I mean working vehicles off the bat and a proper crafting system, while there are some clear issues with loot/size of the map and stuff I can instantly see more potential with this than Dayz. They are both so similar though that the replay value will be vastly diminished because there isn't much here that you wont have done in Dayz (kill on sight stuff) or Rust (crafting stuff).

I have no intentions of ever playing a lovely zombie/monster survival game. But I have every intention of following this thread as well as the Day Z thread. Please make sure to share as much of this bullshit as you can. That's why I'm here. Thank you.

Anyway, finally got to play for a substantial amount of time. Shooting zombies (and people) in the head with arrows is probably the most satisfying gameplay mechanic I've experienced in this game, DayZ or WarZ. Two dudes with pistols attacked me at that cabin lodge near the big lake and I managed to kill one and wound the other before I died. I just logged out inside what appears to be a nuclear waste storage facility and thankfully radiation isn't in the game yet. Tomorrow I plan on spreading the gospel of bows to every non-hostile I encounter. Hopefully the patch supposedly going up in about half an hour will fix that annoying stutter when you press the interact button.

Hey guys if you bought this and want your money back you can just go to your steam account details (via the little arrow next to your steam name at the top right of the steam website) then go to store transactions and there's a refund button now. If you spent any steam wallet money you get it all back as steam wallet money though. I watched a live stream earlier where they called in a crate and inside was about 50 zombies, and an assault rifle with 90 rounds, and then watched the live streamer herd away the zombies, and come back to the crate to find some Russian guy running away with the gun, laughing. So there are about 10'ish or more goons setup on requiem, and it's a lot of fun running into town from with empty packs and running home with pubbie loot. I have to start shadowplaying this crap and making clips for you guys. People say/do the funniest stuff when confronted by 4-8 well armed goons. Get in mumble and roll with us, nerds.

We found shitloads of guns when we raided the town earlier. So many that we were leaving them laying around because we just had no use for them. Ammo is scarce but not so scarce that we didn't shoot any pubbie we saw.

There are 200 dudes sprinting around the map grabbing anything they can find. That's probably why loot seems so scarce sometimes.

FYI: They changed some items and crafting last patch. Blackberry Water is 50 weight instead of 100 for one, and you can't just craft arrows/sticks etc without "a sharp tool" whatever that means. I have a fireaxe and that didn't count..

Probably a good change, being able to make a bow and 40 arrows within a minute of spawning was a little much. I did enjoy it while it lasted though. Also DAT BERRYWATER. The Goonbase is in the middle of 6 berry fields, we have enough berries to keep 30 of us going if we really needed to.

If it's anything like Planetside 2 it'll be so that it can actually run on peoples computers without causing them to burst into flames. This will have less people, explosions and random poo poo happening in the one area but the environments look much more detailed than PS2. I'd be interested to see what the useroptions.ini for this looks like since in the early days of PS2 you could access display settings in that that weren't in the game menus.

You guys are going to love me for this one. The most annoying thing about this game, by far, is having to manually type /loc constantly to find where you're at to meet up with people. Well, instead of whining about it, I've made a program that will automatically type /loc into chat for you! Well, it's actually just a AHK script I converted to .exe so you don't have to gently caress with it. You run it, and you use your side mouse buttons(you have them in 2015, right?) to active it. Depending on the mouse it could be either of the big ones, but probably the lower one. By activate it, I mean you push the mouse button to get your location, it's not just going to keep spamming it. If you want a customized keybind for it, let me know what key you need and I'll make you one.. maybe. It's not bannable, it's just sending key strokes. https://mega.co.nz/#!6EojBaaZ!AMhquMKkrlcIoTWFgpwWClRnY38-tvlLgA-j4Pe3usY This stupid utility is going to save me a lot of headache in this game, and will probably save you from being sniped or smacked by a zombie/wild animal at some point while typing like a retard. You don't want to be a big retard we make fun of for dying while typing, right? Akumos fucked around with this message at 15:28 on Jan 17, 2015 |

Orv posted:Or, and I know this is radical, learn things. Yeah, let me just learn the 100 similar forest/mountain areas my 2nd day playing. We all use /loc, no reason not to make it easier. We had to keep spamming it to find our way back to base earlier. You're not forced to use it, but lol if people don't see the value in having a keybind for it. The most annoying thing is constantly changing which way you are facing to make sure you're heading in the right direction, it's MUCH easier to figure out when you can just spam it on a keybind and see the numbers ticking quickly.
