which mod is it that spawns 2 chimeras every time you try to come or go in rostok because that poo poo is truly obnoxious

OL normally always has two roaming the bloodsucker village the first go through along with a couple pseudogiants and a few extra bloodsuckers. If you knock out the mercs on the far side and hang around more than ten minutes new mercs start to file in from the Bar end of the map. Rostok it'll spawn a herd of Chimeras once in a while, but more often it's a shitload of dogs, pseudodogs, bloodsuckers, snorks, a few of those special zombies and deformed mutants with the long arms and dwarfs, normally three or four so the others can gently caress you up while you try to deal with one. every now and again it'll throw a few controllers in as a bonus via your PDA chat. It spawned two in once in that overhead tunnel, I spent a while running around trying to find them till one happened to get line of sight through a wall hole.

I got hosed earlier tonight. Made the mistake of playing with my lights off so i couldn't see the keys well. OL upgrades the Sig 550 to be a fairly balanced rifle which i scoped, added a launcher and the silencer (it's still fairly accurate with it) and accidentally hit the wrong key and dropped it while some assclowns were trying to loot bodies near me. One picked it up before I could, so i used a bandit's MP 5 to waste him and his buddy to get my gun back. Magical disappearing inventory, it wasn't on him anymore.

This reminds me of SGM 2.1 I think with alpha squads. I cleared the mercs from the substation workshops but I guess this immediately makes it the new alpha squad base, and they started showing up in waves of 5+ immediately before I was able to loot. In the end I made a really messy escape over the wall and toward iron forest.

I've beaten SoC 26 times now and I still don't touch the forest part of the red forest. gently caress those psuedodogs. I'd rather deal with the monolithian checkpoints full of snipers and rocketeers. It could just be that they scared me off really badly the first few times I played through it, but I still think it's just much easier to avoid them all together. Especially if you're returning to the bar after the brain scorcher and your only real threat is the military and the monolithian infantry that have a chance to be reinforcing the area.

So I've been defeated by trying to implement the weapons of Arsenal Overhaul into The Faction War for now. I've been going over the scripts for what seems like forever trying to decipher the system they use for it, and I've got a basic understanding of it but it's rather arcane to me why certain weapons from Arsenal Overhaul seem to break the scripting and others do not, and trying to pinpoint which ones will do it also is very tedious.

Right now I'm thinking of stripping out the purpose built dynamic weapon scripting system and implementing a modified version of Alundaio's one as many elements from Call of Pripyat/Clear Sky are interchangeable (certainly more so than SoC to any other) and I already have a good idea how Alundaio's will work.

Right now I've got a build with all the weapons actually implemented in game terms, but there's no real way to get them, so the only difference players will notice is that weapons that already exist in TFW will have better models and possibly use different ammo as they're using updates from AO. I will upload this build early in the morning once my bandwidth isn't throttled, but for most people I wouldn't recommend using it at all and merely using it as a curiosity as it's likely much more unstable and possibly broken than the current version.

I'm starting to think that the time I put into this would have probably been best used implementing other cooler stuff, like possibly new playable factions (Military/Monolith)

Ok I gotta say that Les Miserables fixed the loving hell out of Misery for CoP. Not being able to sell damaged weapons for anything at all was and having Beard stop selling weapons sucked at first but all the economy fixes (repair prices especially) make it so I can cherry pick cool poo poo I find in the field and fix it later for rather reasonable prices. Been hopping around as an assaulter and had the weird luck of finding a G36 in shockingly good condition, so I popped a silencer on it and repaired it. Also repaired and upgraded a flashy modern 1911 because I've been hoarding DU rounds since I started. Mmmmm.

Also grateful for the mutant and placement changes. No more controllers in the Iron Forest and I've actually been able to kill a Burer but the forest to its' NE is usually a mess of pseudodogs. Bloodsuckers are actually balanced somewhat now that they breathe loudly again and some dedicated mutant hunting tends to be rewardingly lucrative without being a magic money funnel. Also nice that NPCs have great accuracy without being rear end-of-the-gnat marksman savants.

Been screaming about CoP with an unfucked installation of Misery to all my friends. It's so goddamn good.

I'll get around to farting around with ini files at some point but I started a new game and joined Clear Sky because I love the swamp level and well the game is a variant of Clear Sky...

gently caress me, talk about a schizoid mess of :black101: and :downsgun: . I took an early mission to clear out some mutants - 800r - so it can't be too hard, even coming to nightfall. I use my binoculars to lay eyes on prize and approach. A pack of dogs, no worries, there's a high spot nearish if I get swarmed. I plan my retreat to avoid irradiated puddles and such. Everything prepped, I jog in and drop a dog. The other four run at me and IS THAT TWO loving BLOODSUCKERS AS WELL?? loving gently caress. My retreat features a lot less covering fire than I planned and I blew past my high spot due to bloodsucker nearness. Instead, I lead them to the tower just past the fishing hamlet. I sprint up the stairs to the top and pick away at any available targets as the other three dudes at the tower shoot every mutant they can. By some miracle, no-one dies. On the other hand, some random shots appear to have plinked and pissed off a pseudogiant who comes stomping in, sponging a shitload of bullets and shot. It manages to drop a dude and by drop a dude it stomps him into the rickety wooden bridge and pins him there, stomping the poor bastard to goo. Better you than me. Got a crappy kaban out of it, mind. I celebrate by not being able to afford much beyond repairing my toz and armour.

Eventually, I found a crappy but usable scoped mosin-nagant. Oh baby. This thing is ranged death with a wonderful and glorious accuracy lending itself to head shots. On the other hand, I can't find an artifact. Not one. I'm also not bothering with hiring a squad for myself as friendlies, in my experience, get in the way of assaulting enemy positions. I take over Cordon, I clear Dark Valley. I mix and match between a few different sniper rifles depending on what I am shooting and bullet availability. Why? Funny story.

I looted a corpse with an SGI sniper rifle. It's got a longer range scope than my mosin and the bullets are easily available. Fixing it cost way more than I had but I wanted to increase my magazine size so I upgraded. Which cost me the price of fixing as well. I thought that was weird but I could still upgrade my poo poo. So, for the laugh, I upgraded all my poo poo. That put me around 120k in the hole. As it turns out, that means I can't sell or buy or trade anything as I do not have the money for that, just a big rear end debt.

That's right, I can't buy bandages or health packs or ammo, I can just upgrade poo poo, making my debt larger. Fair's fair, I can work with the ammo I have, swapping out guns as needed and I've got health packs out the wazoo. loving bandages, though, I have a paucity of. Currently 8. A good bleeding shot takes a couple if not more. I'm using my extreme range weapons a lot as you can imagine.

I'm slowly, oh so slowly, managing to pare my debt down. Around 55k as it stands. I have stashed a shitload of weaponry that I can sell at the depot the moment my cash flow turns positive. I'll take monster clear-outs and kill missions for steady roubles to reduce the debt and run like a mad gently caress towards any defense of a base on the map as every rouble helps. The first thing I loot is money.

And I still have no artifacts, just vodka and drugs. Such is my life in the Zone.

Modidng for Lost Alpha has been woefully inadequate, which is odd as there's a vast slew of mods for SoC that would easily be ported over.

I guess people are dissuaded due to the Director's Cut coming out in the future, but I am not!

I put out a mini-addon for LA that nobody seems to have used, so I've been adding a few minor features and will be releasing it soon. Right now the only thing I need to do is modify the dialogs with Sakharov a bit to add some of the neater toys in.

Here's a sort of readme detailing some of the changes:

http://pastebin.com/y0VcPV6n

Seems stable so far. I haven't really kept abreast of the bugs present in the latest patch so I'm not sure what needs to be fixed. The forced level change from the Darkdolina to Cordon during the one Sin mission is probably the biggest annoyance I can think of at the moment.

So I've had a brief look over the OGSE 0.9.6.3 scripts and wow they've really remade the entire thing. Some cool new features:

They now have a dedicated 'keylogger' which allows for custom bindings. They also hit upon an idea I had for using this in that they've completely stripped nightvision from suits and done it in a scripted way, so when an emission hits nightvision will no longer work, lights will be screwed up, and other neat things (like the various electronic things like exoskeletons, autodoctors and bioradar/detectors cease to work properly)

They've completely redone some vehicles, including the BTR. You can now have companions in vehicles with you, and if they're in a BTR they will also fire upon people so you don't have to.

The shader work they've done is loving fantastic. They've seriously made the game look gorgeous. Better than LA in many, many regards.

They've also redone exoskeletons to make them less powerful in a rather interesting way. As said, once an emission hits the electronic components cease to work so you don't get the additional strength or whatever with them, so they're basically just a giant metal box at that point. They also have references to them 'rusting' presumably, when exposed to extreme rain or whatever.

Way more new quests. They've also incorporated virtually all of the RMA mod into it, and done it really well, so it's now potentially a better LA game than LA.

OGSE 0.9.6.3 really is amazing stuff. I hope the translation work is fast so I can understand what's going on.

I've spoken to K.D., the author of the shaders and one of the coders, frequently about OGSE.
Most if not all of those shaders I will be porting to COP on the Open Xray Engine 1.6 (that's what we're calling the engine for COP with the open source) as soon as the OGSE source is released, which will be as soon as they're done debugging and release the full release.
Some of them I might already be able to port to COP already by doing some guesswork as to how the coded the new shaders internally.

Also, a present to this playing COP on DX9: Lost Alpha's Soft Shadows shader - https://www.mediafire.com/?7v6gufmxvwczhu5

I've picked up enough Russian via osmosis to get a vague idea of what's going on with the new quests. I think I'm going to hold out on using some of their ideas until they have an official release since it's kind of a dick move and they should be the first to wow people with them.

e: It looks like they've added Jekan to the team, who made a rather neat little addon for OGSE that's pretty much Russian only at the moment. This is exciting as he had a very, very cool and hilarious idea for Izloms/Fractures that I'm sure OGSE implemented somewhere. I won't ruin the surprise but it was funny when I first saw it.

OGSE doesn't really make any changes to the map. It just adds a few spawns here and there.

If you're already familiar with how stalker plays jumping straight into OGSE probably wouldn't be a huge leap into the unknown, but you'd probably appreciate OGSE a lot more if you get a feel for what SoC is like normally since OGSE changes virtually everything about the game, even the intro (although not to the extent of mods like DMX/Stalkersoup)
