Yeah, it was DS9 episodes "Past Tense" part 1 and 2.
Notably, at the same time they were filming those episodes, an article in the Los Angeles Times described a proposal by the Mayor to move homeless people into fenced-in areas in an effort to "make downtown Los Angeles friendlier to business."

quote:

Determined to make Downtown Los Angeles friendlier to business, the Riordan Administration has launched a plan to shuttle homeless people to an urban campground on a fenced lot in the city's core industrial area. The mayor's proposal, which has come under heated attack by some homeless advocates, calls for turning a vacant city block in the eastern part of Downtown into a homeless drop-in center, where up to 800 people could take showers and sleep on a lawn.
--
But Los Angeles homeless advocates say the proposal is a misguided ploy to keep the tattered hordes away from Downtown businesses and out of the sight of tourists and shoppers. "If we're just looking to get people off the streets so we don't have to look at them, then that's what the city's proposing--an Orwellian poorhouse," said Alice Callaghan, director of Las Familias del Pueblo, a Skid Row social service center. "Building a large fence or a stadium is nothing but a prison."
DS9 has managed to become more accurate and relevant as time has gone on. "Homefront" and "Paradise Lost" feel exactly like heavy-handed 9/11 allegories, except for the fact that they first aired in 1996. So instead they're just a depressingly accurate foretelling of the post-9/11 world, and the risk of giving up our rights and freedoms in order to protect ourselves from the changelings terrorists.

It's sorta like how this Kirschen parody is now indistinguishable from the real thing:

She hasn't declared and won't until she has to because of campaign finance laws. It's not playing coy. She's running but declaring now would be financially disadvantageous.

I thought it was politics (everyone knows she's running but the opposition can't roll out the really big guns without looking crass until she declares) but financial reasons works better than my idea.

Yeah, Hillary's running, but she's not going to declare until she wants to.

She really is for better or worse. The people we'd really like to see in power on the left are doing better work in the Senate and likely wouldn't survive the Cold Warriors' fears of SOCIALISM! anyways. Besides, HIllary's an OLD DC hand who knows how to work the Oval Office from working with her husband.

Well based on one of the right-wing talking points from back in the 90s, she's already served two terms as President and they were pretty loving great.

That last part was NOT one of the right wing talking points.

There's also the fact that Republicans have decided to go with "Benghazi, Monica Lewinsky, and the 90's redux" as the winning platform to attack Hillary on:

They don't seemed to have realized that not only did this line of attack not work the first time around, it has the chance to backfire spectacularly:
