i love this game and i love exploiting it but i'm going to relax playing it so much until the hacks and dupes get patched out. well worth the 20 bucks even with the exploits. if you bought into dayz or warz, just go ahead and flush another 20 down the toilet. it's good fun.

Is this game anything other than a gigantic, flaming trainwreck? Does buying it for any reason other than as a donation to Sony and :japan: make any sense?

The game has a lot of potential that is all currently ruined by duping/relogging with full gear/logging to jump into walls etc. Once the game fixes most of this poo poo, hackers will be the only problem, I hope they can sort it out. This game will be a lot more interesting when it's actually beneficial to have a base that dupers/exploiters can't raid, right now there is no loving point.

It is, but it's our job to break everything repeatedly and then tell Sony "hey this is how you break the game make it so we can't break it". How many of the exploiters do you think are compiling bug reports and sending them to Sony?

well regardless of who is reporting what exploits they find, the people who feel the negative effects are definitely screaming at SOE to fix them. so hopefully soe can figure it out.

Personally I have sent in a few bug reports, including the dupe method. At this point, I don't care about the duping, what I care about is the noclip/teleport hacks, and the respawn-glitch. Fix the dupe, you fix the respawn-glitch. And vice-versa. The hacks, well, I haven't yet found any trace of an anti-cheat running, so I am in the group that believes there is no detection and prevention method other than player-submitted videos. Which is the worst kind of detection method.

You used to be able to play them when the game released, but they have been unjoinable for awhile now. I heard they may become pay to play using those event tickets.

They're joinable still when a new BR game starts on that server but there's no way to refresh the server list right now. People are closing and reopening the game to get in supposedly.

Does BR not use tickets right now? I've been finding about one per hour right now. Including in containers I've already checked (stealing someone's goodies out of a shack).

Last thing I saw is that they had not turned on ticket spending because the system is still pretty broken.

...You can put tickets in a container? Can you not just keep them in your global inventory with your skins and such?

Just killed a guy and got some 1911 ammo (I had 11 rounds that I spent shooting at him, the last of which killed him), a shotgun, a combat knife, shotgun shells, a bunch of MRE's, a combat knife, a bunch of meat, a first aid kit and a bunch of bandages, a motorcycle helmet, his shirt, and a military backpack. In my heart, I hope I just took an airdrop's worth of supplies from him plus a little more.

I think other players are the least of my worries while I'm mucking around in this warehouse. Can my character die of cancer yet?

All the loot is on the players. Seriously, there are pubs on at all hours doing circuits of every city and PoI just gobbling up all the loot to try and stash it away in the woods. A lot of it seems to end up on the ground where it decays out due to PvP or whatever. It is just a ridiculous flow of resources to basically nowhere as it all gets hoarded or destroyed.

When you find a cleverly hidden stash it's crammed with an insane amount of poo poo, more than 10 people could carry.

If it's anything like dew collectors, they will say they "fixed" it 2-3 times before they actually fix. When they do actually fix it the patch notes should have something like "no we really mean it this time." That's usually the SOE giveaway that they actually fixed it (before eventually breaking it again down the line).

Yeah those are the loot bags from fallen players that no one even opened. Those untouched bags rise up as zombies carrying the loot instead of decaying and being destroyed.

Next time I find one I'm going to take a screenshot of a ridiculous loot stash. I think the dug stashes don't have an item cap like the storage containers because when I find one it often has >100 item entries with stacks like 50 bottles, 100s of ammo rounds, 10 lighters, 20 compasses and so on.

Lou Takki posted:

Most of the time they are near a crafting area. A sure sign that there is a stash nearby is a grill and forge but no container to go with them. The crafting materials are somewhere nearby. We discovered that some people also use rabbit traps for storage because many players ignore them and like grills and stashes they have no storage limit.

What I have observed/learned:

*Looks like a mound of dirt.

*Can only be placed on natural ground like grass/dirt.

*Can only be placed on very flat surfaces.

*Can be placed "under" a bush, so look for a dirt mound clipping partially into a bush.

Even knowing all that they are not super easy to spot. A stash in the middle of the woods with no obvious crafting area within 30m is probably nearly impossible to notice.

I killed a zombie in Cranberry and got myself an AR-15, a shotgun and 2 shells plus a helmet, backpack and assorted food. No water bottles for some reason but I was loving loaded. I decided to fight three guys with it, one went down to the shotgun and the other two I managed to kill with bow headshots (I loving love the quickdraw trick) and then a fourth pubbie came out and shot me with a rifle.

At this point I just play the game to spawn, make a bow and go fight people. Never get attached to your loot, it's no fun being a loot bag if you just avoid every fight ever.

bow quickdraw is my fav part of this game so far

I love having my bow out, but not nocked, then I quickly tell whatever person I see that I'm friendly

I strike up a conversation, ask a question and put my mouse cursor over their head

normally they stop moving, try to answer and as soon as that happens I quick draw and shoot them in the head

What exactly is the quickdraw trick? When I used a bow (day after release, so the first PLAYABLE day) they took a decent amount of time to draw as well as the arrows traveling extremely slow.

Space Skeleton

The drawing animation is all show, it's ready to shoot the moment you hit rightclick. So you hit rightclick then immediately leftclick to launch it.

Drawing a new arrow does take time however.

No, I had found someone's storage in a shed in the middle of nowhere, so I looted it a couple times while dropping stuff on the floor and like the third time I opened it there was an event ticket inside that wasn't there before. That makes me think they're on a "rare drop" kind of system where there's a 1% chance to spawn a ticket every time you open a container. Can probably be tested by opening the same container over and over for two hours but no one would ever do that.

Either not many people know about this or it doesn't really matter because bows are lovely anyway, because I just speared/hatcheted 5 or 6 people who ran up on me with bows. Not as a group, just over the course of 30 minutes that many people tried to arrow me.

Also, finally found scrap metal on a zombie. It also had a 1911, cool.

bows own pretty hard, but its hard to quickdraw and hit someone really reliably when they are running at you like a crazy drunk person

its a useful thing to be able to do and I've gotten a lot of kills using it, but a melee weapon is generally preferable in those upclose battles

quickdraw is useful primarly in two situations - 1 against someone who is unsuspecting or slightly distracted since you can basically insta kill them with absolutely no windup on the bow draw animation
2 - against someone with a gun, because typically they are overconfident seeing they have a gun & you have a bow, so they stand a lot more still and "know" you have to draw your bow back to even fire allowing you an easy headshot
