A lot of conspiracy theories have remained basically the same but with "bankers" swapped with "Jews. It is, of course, possible to hate banks for reasons that aren't anti-semitism, but a far-right dude complaining about the Frankfurt School's baneful influence is probably just a crypto-racist.

I mean let's not absolve people who work for the banks of responsibility. Somebody said 'Hey let's let the robot drive the bus.' and their are still people who could flip the off switch on the robot if they so chose. Jamie Dimon and the people at his level are absolutely complicit in the global economic collapses, because they aren't acting to stop them since that would cost them money. If people decide not to get into the profession because it is (rightly) derided that would be to the good. VVV I guess I'm just of the opinion that the people at Bank of America who make the decisions that we're talking about when we say BoA is evil (the ones who sign off on the drug cartel accounts etc.) are evil. I don't actually think BoA itself is capable of malice, that's too much like recognizing it as a person. Ultimately it's the people who work at a place that are (morally) accountable for the actions it takes regardless of the legality. I think that's what the people who rage against bankers are saying, though they may be more or less articulate depending on circumstance. I guess it could be coded anti-Semitism, but it seems more like class war to me. Peztopiary has a new favorite as of 18:23 on Jan 15, 2015 |

Here's a thought, maybe idiots can apply the same mindset independently to either Jews or bankers?!?? Or even both? Or the Illuminati instead?

The truth is more frightening, nobody is in control. The world is rudderless.

I know it's a thing I've heard in the food service industry, but also I swear Freepers call black people something equally innocuous due to some news story but I can't find reference to it in the Freeper threads somehow. For more relevant content, I overheard an older guy at work talking earnestly with another bro-y 40-something guy about Tunney and Moldbug specifically. They both check infowars at work in between calls. This guy almost got fired for walking out in disgust when the new security guard asked to see his badge because he dresses like a goddamn hobo, even for callcenter work, because MAH RIGHTS. Somehow he didn't get fired? He is very angry about his ex wife "becoming a feminazi" and how the leadership at my center is super liberal and several men & women of color and white women are in the mix as supervisors and leads and such. I think it's a good thing, but their monotone, rambling asses have worked here so long they believe magically without interviewing they should be given a job promotion over "those types." Just saying it's remarkable because I had no loving clue these people existed in the wild & that they weren't all twenty-something tech sector dingbats. The people I've met who actually believe them have minds that tend to work in that schizophrenic kind of way where any little incidental pattern is amplified 100 times, like the pattern-matching parts of their brain are massively over-driven. Suddenly something completely meaningless like "these pictures of presidents are all at weird angles or have weird lighting that kinda-sorta make their eyes look funny if you squint" becomes "all of these presidents have weird eyes" and then "all of these presidents are secretly reptiles." Otherwise they've all been perfectly fine people

Actually, a lot of the DE people in this thread are basically just a super-suit or industrial accident away from being a supervillain if you think about it. Probably not a coincidence that most of them love comics. But a dominatrix is probably the closest thing to a real-life supervillain that actually exists.

I mean in the ridiculous cartoon theatrical sense, as well as in terms of single-minded stupid obsessions. Like, somebody like that would fit in on the old Batman show, and DE people kind of do too insofar as they choose loving ridiculous names and want to do insane, impossible things. But they don't have lairs or costumes, even if some have codenames. The CEO of Cocoa-Cola would not, even if he's currently enacting a plot to monopolize access to potable water in a dozen countries and has hired death squads to crush unions in Guatamala. Real loving evil masterminds from James Bond have of course ruled the world for at least 100 years and enacted evil schemes often predicted in adventure stories or old movies, but they don't flounce around in loving capes and talk in operatic, overblown language. I think Aurini would love to do that, though. We need a more precise vocabulary to document the kind of lunacy the internet enables.
