I think it's just Jillian Tamaki drawing Finn so tall. If you look at the storyboard for this episode on the King of Ooo tumblr, she did everything up to Ice King freezing everyone, and then "Poor Simon..." onwards is Moynihan, and the dimensions go back to normal. Also it's worth looking anyway because MAN her storyboards are gorgeous (and they cut out a small G/G/G/G line about how the agent of change is always "good or evil").

Say Nothing posted:People seem to like the comic, too. Just not the actual video game. They're both written with a lot of self-depreciation and awareness, so they don't take themselves seriously. The jokes can get a bit try-hard at times, but not often enough to be a real annoyance. The DS game is fairly average and unremarkable, which doesn't help. And the Wii U game is complete garbage. Also, no joke, Chris-chan got arrested over the whole flesh colored arms bit after he tantrum'd out of a GameStop and maced an employee. Great stuff.

My bet for when the last comet showed up since this one is apparently early is when Bubblegum came about. I believe that one video game put her at like 828, or did that come up in the show? At any rate a bubblegum ooze birthing a more evolved being seems like a decent change, and she probably is a major force in the effort to rebuild civilization. If they really wanted to explore it they could have Marceline or Ice King tell the story probably since they were clearly around for it.

Ahem. So, I've finally got around watching Yuasa's segment in Genius Party, which is Happy Machine. This short was released in 2007, so there's no way it could have been influenced by or influence the pilot of Adventure Time, but it's obvious that there are some striking similarities. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2UBtSwkpac The kid in Happy Machine even has robotic limbs in the end. I guess it might have been discussed before around Yuasa's episode, but drat, that's some weird coincidence.

Hey, how was Abracadaniel able to use Ice King's crown? Can he do real wiz biz after all? I'm glad that a dick joke who probably only made it onto the show because somebody got a big laugh from the group with the name Abracadaniel is now a solid tertiary character.

Gunther (the penguin) was able to use the crown. I think it's been kind of established now that the crown can be used by anybody, it just shouldn't be used by anybody other than IK lest the crazy start to infect them.

What a genuinely disturbing episode. I loved it, but boy - messed up stuff. I hope Sweet P isn't doomed to become what he once was, because he's such a sweet kid. He's like Clarence, only not thoroughly charmless and not voiced by a super-creep.

So is The Lich one of those pre-time monsters? Man at this point we're getting new stuff added to the lore every week. (I'm choosing to believe he was telling the truth instead of making stuff up to scare them.) Episode was pretty good. Always nice to hear Andy Daly, plus Paul Scheer as the sidekick was fun too. The overall plot though I wasn't really into until it got all dark at the end. Typical Seo Kim ep.

HERE'S YOUR GOLD STARBown posted:So is The Lich one of those pre-time monsters? Man at this point we're getting new stuff added to the lore every week. (I'm choosing to believe he was telling the truth instead of making stuff up to scare them.) This season has had a strong emphasis on parenting and influences on kids. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time because when I see Sweet Pea teetering on the fence between good and evil I think about all real life kids who struggle with growing up and how many of them become emotionally screwed up adults because of childhood trauma. In the end though, I think Sweet Pea came out alright; he allowed himself to be made fun of instead of crying, which is a way better than how bullying usually turns out. edit: I'm told Wire Season 4 is pretty good for this theme as well? I found most of the episode to be pretty meh, but I liked the Lich part at the end. Though I can't help but think it would have been more effective if the monsters weren't so goofy looking. And yellow. Just made them look goofier.

This episode was all about the classic, stereotypical story of the child actor being taken advantage of by his manager, except, the child actor has an evil skeleton inside of him. Or, you could expand that theme to any child who is manipulated by greater, older forces to do what they want, in the absence of sufficient parenting, but also has an evil skeleton inside of him. Sweet P gets all of his self esteem from the "gold" stars the King of Ooo gives him, which echoes Michael and Dukie's arcs in The Wire, who gravitated towards the gang and drug communities, except the kids from The Wire didn't have evil skeletons inside of them. All in all, very good episode about a good natured, but easily exploited child with an evil skeleton inside of him.
