Where are people getting that the FMA author is the only one who does this? I've read tons of manga where the author has a pen name. It's not because they need to sell to boys, its because they put down their real name on things and not have people (read: Nerds) going "OMG YOU'RE THE FMA WRITER" It's basically just letting them still have a level of anonymity. I've even seen male authors do this, I can't remember off the top of my head, but I have read it. Hell, Bakuman has the main characters doing it.
