Edit: I tried re-launching the Code Patch but I seem to recall it causing issues with the steam install. While rebuying the game for 10$ would be simple enough, is there a way for the code-patch to not lead to a no-cd issue? I disabled the overlay, moved the install directory to the default normal morrowind in PFiles, it seems to still not recognize my exe after I apply the patch. I mean, it's not needed as most of MGSO and mods work with the steam version but the code patch does bring some nifty correctives and QoL elements to the game.

Do you have the latest version? I've never had the Code Patch fail and I have Morrowind on Steam. It's not installed in Program Files either. Make sure you are extracting the Code Patch to the Morrowind folder (containing morrowind.exe), NOT the Data Files folder.

That was it. MGSO 3 doesn't come with the last version it seems.

Sorry about the Economy Adjuster stuff. In hindsight, it's not a very good mod to have included.

The Tribunal expansion also has them. One of the mods you have (db_attack_mod) changes this a bit but your character might be powerful enough to get the assassin to spawn.

If this is what's attacking you, there's a mod in the OP which delays the attacks further.

Edit: I totally forgot that the main quest also has random attacks after a certain point. I don't think that's what's happening, though.

Thinking about getting either GCD or MADD levelling, but the mod page for GCD seems to be mostly talk about what code fixes were involved, rather than any information about what it does in game. Godspeed, brave canary
Unfortunately, leveling mods seem to be in conflict with some of MCP's fixes. High attribute bonuses are made by doing negative curses, I don't exactly know the details.

Also haha, that mod.

quote:

D) No more magical Personality bonuses.
Personality isn't well balanced, but the system in place is closer to vanilla morrowind. Galsiah didn't want a weak attribute and gave bonuses that didn't make sense. (D&D CHA [meaning this is a dump stat, it will be weak unless you make it strong])

E) No overleveling skills.
In theory, an external mod could accomplish this... but it seems that overleveling isn't native to morrowind and well... it should be hard enough as is to get 100 level skills (which are fairly powerful as they are).

ATTRIBUTES, however, should extend past 100.

F) No other magical bonuses that penalize people for playing the way they want.
Things were very unbalanced in GCD, and while I have not plugged numbers enough to guarantee it... I tried to create a system that follows the normal archetypes rather than the POWERLEVEL Galsiah wanted.
Skill-&___gt___; Attribute Bonuses have been reassigned to be more inline with ROLEPLAY (Combat skills affect Combat Attributes). And anything else that Galsiah added simply to boost the power of a class type.
I don't like some things GCD does, but this is pretty bullshit. Even when you change things you hate you don't need to be so loving obnoxious about it.

That's only really an issue if you increase the level cap. With Madd Leveler you can simply ignore uncapper.esp and play with the default limit of 100.

I'm not sure if uncapping via the MCP option creates a problem because I don't know exactly how the Madd Leveler script works. The MCP can change the morrowind exe directly to allow you to level base skills and attributes above 100, so if the Madd script that adds the fortification effect once you go over 100 is only part of the uncapper.esp, then you should be able to use the Madd Leveler - base.esp with the MCP uncap options to go above the level cap.

Also, the reason GCD gives mages get a disproportionate boost is because mages are disproportionately weak. And you still get more hit points for having a lot of combat skills. Really I don't know where people get this idea that GCD punishes melee characters, it's multiclass mages that really get the shaft.

Yeah, I'm not about to defend everything Galsiah did. I get wanting to keep characters from being omnipotent, but it really hurts classes with only 2 or 3 magic skills like the Crusader because your magicka never really gets high enough to make it work.

That sounds really dumb and shortsighted, since hybrid classes is kinda big thing in the elder scrolls games.

I just used that L-something Leveling Mod for my previous Morrowind run. Gives you full the full +5 bonus (optionally lower) at level up if you increase a skill just a single point. It keeps the basic system in place, which is nice since I prefer light mod setups these days, but removes the need to game it.

Might be considered OP but if you worried about combat balance you shouldn't play Morrowind in the first place.

Linora's mod is what you're talking about and its pretty awesome and lightweight. +5 is the default but +3/+4 are probably better for people who have played the game a bit.

It's not like all hybrids are bad. A character with 5 magic skills and 5 combat ones will do fine. Like I said, it's the ones with a 8-2 or 3-3-4 split that do poorly.

Linora's is a decent choice, but the default levelling system is so horrible that a minimalist approach like that just isn't enough for me.

EDIT: GCD is also very customizable and well-documented so you can change most of these things pretty easily if you wanted.

Recently, there was a new version released that only had dialog - no quests, items, or other nonsense:

Going to give it a shot. It also comes in a single merged ESP which is sweet.

I only remember the stuff from LGNPC Tel Uvirith, like the quest where you have to rescue Eddie's kidnapped (and probably raped) girlfriend (and the way he talks about her is like Ostar couldn't even imagine a woman playing a video game, so he assumes you're totally in on the eyerolling dialogue about "females, am I right?"), and also the cat-fight between the Tel Uvirith retainers, and the one who'll "get physical" with you (and that is a direct quote, not scare quotes). The sex stuff wouldn't even have been that gross if it wasn't caked in a layer of misogyny (and I don't use that word lightly, the dude's dialogue screamed "I hate women!").

There's a breton slave in Molag Mar with her master. If you talk to the master he talks about how her main purpose is to be raped, and how this is totally acceptable since she's a slave. Maybe they cut that out. I don't know. There's also a merchant in Ald'ruhn who has his wife/apprentice locked in her room for misbehaving. Yeah, NPC is there in game, but she could just not like visitors, or not want to be interrupted. But in LGNPC she was locked in there and drinking booze because she had nothing else to do.

I've had most of the circa 2013+ LGNPC plugins installed for a long time now and haven't really noticed a lot of weird sexual stuff. I don't typically go around and try to strike up a conversation with everybody, though, either.

As much as I respect LGNPC for what it's trying to do, I ultimately decided for myself that I don't care if every NPC has a huge backstory. They are cookie cutters anyways, at least I don't have to feel obligated to talk to them.

This is pretty much my feeling as well. A little bit of variety is nice, but Jesus I'm not going to spend 10 minutes reading all the stupid fanfic some nerd wrote for Random Clutter Vendor #26.
