Not any worse than any other AWD system, as long as you avoid early BMW AWD, but it's another major expensive wear component that likely has never been maintained ala early 2000's $300 craigslist luxury car. However wagon + awd indicates Mom Owned so at least it may not have been beaten to total poo poo by the PO.

The e46 AWD powertrain is pretty bulletproof and simple (but not as good as audi, subaru, etc). Front CV axles probably the main weak point, especially if you lower it.

My biggest worry would be rust.

If you have a 3k budget, that would be a bad idea. If you have 2k to put aside on top of that for all the usual BMW poo poo and can DIY, it's a decent price for an e46 5spd wagon.

You might not know this, but the brain has several different regions in it, and it's possible that he has a brain injury that affects his ability to remember some facts (like his PIN number) but lets him drive perfectly well. This is a good article to read]; it's pretty amazing how many different ways the brain has to store different kinds of things. It's perfectly possible even to be able to remember how you put your PIN in by moving your fingers, but not what it actually is, so you have trouble if the pad's layout is changed or something.

1948 Bentley Mark VI Shooting Brake.

Chassis number: B41CD
Registration number: JLX932
Guns available by separate negotiation.

An unusual Bentley Mark VI converted to shooting brake/estate car specification. This project was undertaken by a renowned retired Bentley engineer in Scotland. The body was taken off the chassis & the chassis then thoroughly gone through. Likewise new sections were let in to the body & much steelwork replaced prior to the body being reunited with the chassis in its current form.

The body has had a bare metal respray in Tudor grey & thus presents very very well. The rear estate door folds upwards revealing a cavernous storage area for luggage, guns fishing impedimenta, or whatever other country pursuits one may imagine.

On the mechanical side, the sump was removed from the engine and the side-cover from the gearbox, the internals of both were inspected & fount to be well within tolerances & in good condition. The braking system, including servo, was fully overhauled with new linings, hydraulic hoses and pipes, master and wheel cylinder seals, etc. New kingpins and bushes were fitted to the front suspension. Both the starter motor and dynamo were stripped and rebuilt.

The interior woodwork has been re-varnished, and the leather upholstery refurbished by Gliptone leather Care. Derby Plating re-chromed the brightwork & new tyres have also been fitted.

The car drives beautifully with a powerful silent engine which pulls strongly in all gears.

Selling my '95 Eagle Talon TSI FWD 5-Speed.

Important - No joy rides. No Trades. Approx 160k miles. $5500 obo.

I literally got a job in Indy as I was finishing this project up. I just don't have room for it in Indy. Car has a brand new paint job (factory wildberry) with paint matched valve cover, intake, Intercooler piping and a couple of other engine accent pieces. Car was undercoated when it was painted as well. Car went straight to storage after being painted since I moved. This thing is immaculate.

Body mods / work done when it was painted -- shaved antenna, shaved and paint matched inner brake light, shaved rear spoiler, 2gb front bumper, 2gb brand new OEM style black housing headlights, smoked corner lenses and smoked taillights.

The bad - you WILL need DSM link. It's got a base tune on DSM link V2 right now, but I do not have the adapter to hook up to your computer to tune. This means that you will need it because if you have to change the battery or the battery gets drained you will need to put the tune back on it. I will supply you with a USB drive that contains the file for the tune in case this ever happens.

VR Speed Factory front mount and piping (< 100 miles)
Turbonetics Raptor BOV
New silicon radiator hoses (< 100 miles)
New Stant Radiator cap (< 100 miles)

Tie rod ends, lower control arms and upper control arms were all replaced about two years ago.
STM oil-sprung dipstick
STM EGR block-off plate
Starter replaced
Ebay oil catch can (< 100 miles)
ACT 2100 clutch kit
Fidanza flywheel
2g AWD front brake upgrade (bigger diameter rotor and dual piston calipers)
Socketed EPROM ECU
DSM link V2 chip (no adapter)
Greddy full auto turbo timer
K&N air filter (< 100 miles)
New Pioneer bluetooth Radio
Pioneer Speakers
New battery (< 100 miles)
New middle timing cover (not installed)
FIC 950cc Injectors (< 100 miles)
Walbro 255 w/ wiring kit (< 100 miles)
Fuel Lab fuel pressure regulator (< 100 miles)
New NGK plug wires and Plugs (< 100 miles)
Timing belt (gatorback) and balance shaft belt replaced
Slave cylinder replaced
Clutch master cylinder replaced

Please don't low ball me and I'll only set up appointments to serious buyers.

Needs tune, don't have adapter to do tune, this project is 99% done just needs the tune!

Though really, it's not a bad price considering the work put into it I suppose.

It needs DSMlink which isn't too bad, but it is FWD, which is bad. FWD DSMs with any decent power (even at the upper limits of a 14b) will need some level of LSD up front or it'll be useless until the top of third gear. Also there's no mention of a rebuilt engine or transmission, so who knows how long a modded 4G63 in a 20 year old car will last.

That is one of my favorite colors for 2Gs, but it always worries me when someone dumps many several thousands of dollars into body modifications and doesn't touch the engine mechanicals at all.

It's got a 14B on it. It's not like the engine is stressed at all, considering it probably makes all of 230-240WHP.

The new paint is the only thing of value on the car really, most of the other stuff is basic/cheap rear end dsm owner forum reading garbo. Expect to spend another 600 bucks for V3 DSMLink/ECMLink (2 sucks vs 3). Also unless he includes the stock down pipe or you have a lenient inspection station, you'll be hosed on inspection, so expect to buy another cat + have that welded on.

The seats are probably pretty worn down at this point, and 2G seats have always sucked, so keep that in mind.

Also it has a talon rear end. Eugh.

That being said, if you want to make a highway queen, your chariot awaits.
