X-Ray Pecs posted:Rob The Parrot is good, but my favorite "ask the Internet" episode is BlurtIt. How do I increase my panic size? I'm convinced that BlurtIt is the stupidest community they've ever looked at, because it's a failure of logic that leads them to be there in the first place. With the other 'shout a stupid question into the aether' websites, I can at least understand how they get there. Is It Normal and Is It Legal have clear mission statements, enough that I can see you getting there by a Google search. Legal and eHelp also have a semblance of authority in Judge and Rob, so I can see you going 'yeah, I'm gonna get a good answer from this one'. Even Yahoo Answers at least has momentum going for it, so if you're stupid enough to think this is the best way to answer your question, there's enough people there that also think that to guarantee a response. There is no reason for you to be on BlurtIt. Not only do you have to look harder to get there, but they're worse at answering questions, and have absolutely zero way to even seem like they know what they're talking about. If you are on BlurtIt, you have already failed to answer your question. And quite evidently, judging by the content of their posts, they are not proving this assertion wrong. Can't place the episode, prob in the 135-150 range, but one quick exchange goes: *Ridiculist is reading some terrible stuff for a while* "And now....an excerpt from my short story "The Panties"" (paraphrased) Jimmyfranks in the background "Aww, jesus" The way he says it cracks me up every time. Anyone remember which ep it's in?

All this talk about quotes and whatever and I remembered that my favorite episode of all is Don't Patreonize Me and it's singularly because of that stupid Modest Medusa comic. "Jake, I don't understand Patreon. Is it a superhero?" "Ith'th naht a thooperhero!!" [...] "There has never been a septum more deviated than that one."

I came up with the stupid Tarantino animal parody idea after we started recording it, quickly jotting the titles down on a piece of paper as Lemon talked. I didn't realize how much I liked the last one until I started saying it out loud.

Somebody explain Wet Set in other words, it's not ringing a bell. I think the only episode I've listened to just once are a few of the first twenty or so, and the flattening episode because goddamn that intro. Skipping is easier than fast forwarding when my phone's in my pocket.

I didn't realize how much I liked the last one until I started saying it out loud. That stupid animal parody idea has made me miss the bumpers so much. Although there was a great ad joke in one episode about how the bumpers are gone.

# ? Jan 29, 2015 03:15 |

The bumpers have been bleeding back into the episodes immediately following the reader introductions lately so I don't find myself missing the old way it was done. I like that it seems to give everyone a chance to join in now, instead of the old one-on-one format.
|
# ? Jan 29, 2015 03:22 |
|
I've found I tend to scrub to around 4 or 5 minutes to skip the old-style bumpers when re-listening to an episode, so I do like the new format. It gets to the meat of the episode quicker.
|
# ? Jan 29, 2015 04:14 |
|
There were also some times when Lemon would explain the episode in the bumper, introduce the readers, then explain the episode again, and that was kind of pointless. I also like the group session "what did we learn this week" format better than the one-on-one.

Yea bumpers were fun but I love 'what did we learn' because it feels like there's always one reader genuinely trying to find ANY kind of message to take away other than 'I don't know, society is doomed?'
